On its first four live online Marathons in 2020 (May 3, June 14, August 1, and October 18) Bang on a Can presented a total of 95 performances, including 31 world premieres of new commissions and over 130 composers and performers.

Bang on a Can announced the hourly schedule for its ALL LIVE Bang on a Can Marathon on Sunday, June 14, 2020 from 3pm-9pm ET. The 6-hour live Marathon will be hosted by Bang on a Can Co-Founders and Artistic Directors Michael Gordon, David Lang, and Julia Wolfe.

Produced by Beth Morrison Projects, one of the most influential and innovative taste makers on the forefront of the 'indie opera' movement, Aging Magician opens on Friday, March 13, 2020 at 7:30 PM at the Balboa Theatre. Dark electronic collective Dispel are previewing their new single 'Temptation' via a new video representing the 'Last Trial' stage of the Hero's Journey. The video features a return of the Crusading Knight 'Levie.' Having quested and gained the 'Sword of Knowledge' in the 'Modal Consequence' music video, he must now be tested to prove worthy of this new power and strength.

Peak Performances presents the U.S. premiere of Gandini Juggling and choreographer Alexander Whitley's Spring, a mesmerizing collaboration setting the company's avant-garde approach to juggling in juxtaposition with contemporary dance. Following the success of last year's Smashed, Gandini Juggling joins forces with Whitley for a kaleidoscopic dreamscape of a performance. The production features six virtuosic jugglers: Kati Ylä-Hokkala, Tristan Curty, Dominik Harant, Kim Huynh, Liza van Brakel, and Wes Peden and four contemporary dancers: Sakeema Peng Crook, Tia Hockey, Erin O'Toole, and Yu-Hsien Wu, and an immersive score by London-based composer and producer Gabriel Prokofiev. The Guardian called Spring a?oejoyfully hypnotica??filled with intricate skill.a?? Visually arresting, colorfula?"with lighting design by Guy Hoare and costume design by Claire Ashleya?"and bursting with rhythm and pattern, Spring is a refreshing and entertaining production at the vanguard of contemporary circus. Music Director Jaap van Zweden will conduct the New York Philharmonic in the New York Premiere of Steve Reich's Music for Ensemble and Orchestra — a Philharmonic co-commission with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and Baltic Sea Philharmonic. The program will also feature Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4, with Yefim Bronfman as soloist, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 2 and will take place Thursday, December 5, 2019, at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, December 6 at 11:00 a.m.; and Saturday, December 7 at 8:00 p.m.
