Casting has been announced for DIRTY DANCING - THE CLASSIC STORY ON STAGE, coming to The Broward Center for the Performing Arts for a limited two week engagement. Christopher Tierney and Rachel Boone will star as Johnny Castle and Frances "Baby" Houseman in the Fort Lauderdale premiere of Dirty Dancing - The Classic Story On Stage.

The Broadway at Birdland series was proud to present actor/singer Erich Bergen, who made a triumphant return to the Birdland stage on Sunday and Monday, June 21 and 22. Performer and internet selfie sensation Mark MacKillop will debut his new one-person show - A Night With Mark MacKillop - Today evening, May 16 at 9:30 pm at 54 Below (254 West 54th Street). Singing standards from the 80's, 90's and 00's, MacKillop takes the audience on his journey this past year from an aspiring musical theater performer to a world famous taker of scantily-clad selfies in this self-deprecating, tongue-in-cheek guide to becoming 'famous' in 2015.

NYC-based multiplatform artist Mark MacKillop, a Vancouver native, last year completed an international tour of West Side Story in the role of Riff. The musical brought him to major cities across Europe and Israel, and by way of accommodations, their hotels as well. Rather than a written diary, MacKillop chronicled his downtime with an iPhone camera, taking over 80 high-quality, expertly composed black-and-white and color self-portraits in various hotel rooms, in very little clothing. These portraits tied together the aspects of MacKillop's career that resonate most with him; physicality, composition, reflection, and poses related to dance.

There was a happening on West 44th Street! For a week, Chita Rivera brought her joyful, razzle-dazzling nightclub act to Birdland, which she calls her favorite room in the city. “These walls are filled with the best music! Playing Birdland just makes me feel cool,” she proclaimed. As if her iconic Broadway career wasn't cool enough, “Chita's Back” was a concert for the history books – with the ever-youthful legend in fine fettle; singing, dancing and telling some of the best insider stories any theater-lover could hope for. Material from Bye Bye Birdie, Chicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman, West Side Story and The Visitwere included, as well as a James Taylor duet with daughter, Lisa Mordente. The swinging was band led by guitarist/percussionist Michael Croiter, with Michael Patrick Walker on piano, Jim Donica on bass, and Dan Willis on saxophone.
