A Contemporary Theatre announces its summer production of The Year of Magical Thinking written by acclaimed reporter, essayist, and literary icon, Joan Didion.

OK, so putting up a dark and moody production of Anton Chekhov's 'Uncle Vanya' may sound redundant but remember, this is The Seagull Project. They've spent the last eight years killing it with all things Chekhov and now with the completion of the main plays, the dark and moody tone isn't so much the story but the way it's presented that thrilled.

The only 'National' festival taking place in the State of Iowa, that focuses on Iowa's traditional pioneer music has taken a step forward this year, in welcoming Iowa performers of the early 'covered wagon music' that came to the state in it's earliest days of settlement.

Lewis & Clark College in partnership with PETE, are pleased to present a four-day celebration and exploration of the many aspects of Anton Chekhov's work,  and the art of contemporary dramatic translation. A culmination of two years of research and performance, the symposium will feature readings of Št?pan Šimek's new translations of The Three Sisters, Uncle Vanya, The Seagull and The Cherry Orchard. Each piece was workshopped with PETE to collaboratively  translate not just the words, but the ACTION of the plays. ACT - A Contemporary Theatre under the direction of Artistic Director Kurt Beattie officially announces the 2014 mainstage season. Next year, ACT has a balance of plays that are smart and beautiful, hilarious and zany, as well as thrilling and suspenseful. Fresh from Broadway is the Seattle premiere of the Tony Award Winner for Best Play, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, by Christopher Durang. Also on deck for 2014 is the off-Broadway hit, Bethany by Laura Marks. Back from directing the Broadway opening of First Date, director Bill Berry will mount the infamous cult musical hitLittle Shop of Horrors for the intimate Falls Theatre. Heavy hitters and famous authors Sam Shepard, Steve Martin, and Woody Allen will have their one-act plays combine for a summer triple bill, and Arthur Miller's The Price will offer a look at an expertly crafted drama that remains timeless. ACT is honored to work with writer/actor Ayad Akhtar, winner of this year's Pulitzer Prize for Disgraced, on his recent play, a revised version of The Invisible Hand.

Juilliard's Drama Division announces the 2013-2014 season of fully-staged productions featuring Juilliard's 43rd group of acting students in their fourth and final year in the drama program at Juilliard. This season's plays include Jeffrey Hatcher's Smash, directed by Victor Pappas; Amy Herzog's The Great God Pan, directed by Maria Mileaf; and Sam Shepard's Buried Child, directed by Daniel Fish. All performances take place in the Stephanie P. McClelland Drama Theater at Juilliard.

ACT - A Contemporary Theatre announces a jam packed summer and fall with shows that cover a broad range of theatre. Finishing out the Mainstage season with three powerhouse Seattle Premieres, ACT presents Gina Gionfriddo's Pulitzer Prize finalist Rapture, Blister, Burn; followed by Will Eno's Middletown; and closing with Sir Alan Ayckbourn's American Premiere of Sugar Daddies - where the theatre legend himself will travel to Seattle to direct. In our Central Heating Lab, where ACT partners with other groups to produce new and exciting alternative theatre, AZEOTROPE returns with a double-header performed in repertory, and Das Fallopia makes their ACT debut with Ham for the Holidays. Fans of new works who love to delve into the developmental process will have plenty to see with ACT's New Play Award, The Construction Zone, and Icicle Creek Theater Festival.
