The Oregon Shakespeare Festival will open Quiara Alegria Hudes's The Happiest Song Plays Last, directed by Shishir Kurup, July 11 in the Thomas Theatre. Preview performances are July 7, 9 and 10.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, is pleased to announce the recipients of the Edgerton Foundation New Play Awards for the 2014-15 season. The awards, totaling $858,000, allow 26 productions extra time in the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, helping to extend the life of the play after its first run.

Yesterday, November 10, 2014, Theatre Communications Group (TCG) celebrated its annual gala. This year the organization honored Jules Fisher, Lynn Nottage, and the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation at 583 Park Avenue in New York City. The performances included previews of two productions from TCG Member Theatres: A Walk on the Moon (New York Stage and Film) and Immediate Family (About Face Theatre, Center Theatre Group, and the Goodman Theatre). Northlight Theatre Celebrates 40 Years With a Commitment to New Work

On the eve of Northlight's 40th Anniversary Season, the theatre celebrates its rich history of developing and producing new work. In the upcoming season, Northlight is producing two world premiere works (White Guy on the Bus and Shining Lives: A Musical), the second-ever productions of two plays (The Commons of Pensacola and Outside Mullingar) and a classic rarely produced in the US (The Mousetrap). In addition, Northlight has a number of new works in development through Interplay, a program that has sent 25 out of 29 scripts on to full professional productions throughout the country and developed Northlight's three best-selling plays: Better Late by Larry Gelbart and Craig Wright, The Outgoing Tide by Bruce Graham and Chapatti by Christian O'Reilly.

Jane Fonda talks with Michael Ritchie about her life, career and her work in '33 Variations.' The Artistic Director's Circle members work in close connection with Michael Ritchie to provide support, through high level gifts in the six-figure range, to specific areas of his strategic artistic vision for Center Theatre Group. Members of the ADC gather periodically with Ritchie in private settings or for special events at CTG's theatres; they have traveled to New York for a workshop presentation of Kander and Ebb's 'Curtains' and as far afield as London and Edinburgh for theatre and the Fringe festival.

Launched in 2006, the Edgerton Foundation New American Play Awards have a growing track record for success, with 24 out of 46 plays living on in subsequent productions, many of which are nominated for prestigious awards. ?That?s a remarkable outcome,? said Teresa Eyring, Executive Director of Theatre Communications Group (TCG). ?Dr. Brad Edgerton and his wife Louise are clearly making a contribution to play development that has an impact on the continuing life of new plays.?
