The Byrd Hoffman Water Mill Foundation celebrated its 23rd Annual Summer Benefit & Auction, a one-of-a-kind evening bringing together over 1,000 guests from the worlds of theater, art, performance, fashion, design, and society at The Watermill Center on Saturday, July 30. The event, entitled FADA: HOUSE OF MADNESS, featured new works by Watermill's International Summer Program participants that came from over 25 countries to create installations and performances throughout the eight and-a-half acre grounds. This year, The Watermill Center honored Madame Giancarla Berti.

Stephanie Vlahos' CARMEN HIGH Will Play at Edinburgh Fringe Festival Next Week

The 69th annual Edinburgh Fringe Festival will begin next week in Scotland. Opening up the Spotlites International Theatre in their new location at the corner of Hanover Street in the beautiful building of the Royal Society of Edinburgh is a new musical called, Carmen High. Carmen High is conceived and directed by Stephanie Vlahos, based on the Bizet opera, Carmen. Carmen High is a theatrical mash up of opera, hip hop, original songs, and classical music that reinvents the opera of Carmen as the real American high school experience told through the authentic voices of gifted teenage performers.

Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein was recently honored at the 3rd Annual Logo Trailblazer Honors. In his acceptance speech, Fierstein took the opportunity to speak to the LGBT community in the wake of the Orlando shooting, telling the community to 'put your arms around each other' and reinforcing that the community is 'surrounded' with love and acceptance. Just yesterday, the Actors Fund officially renamed their Manhattan residence, "The Aurora," (West 57th and 10th Avenue) at a special ribbon cutting ceremony. The residence will now be called "The Dorothy Ross Friedman Residence." The new Broadway musical An American in Paris is now in previews and just opened last night, April 12, 2015 at the Palace Theatre (Broadway at 47th Street). An American In Paris is directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon. Inspired by the Academy-Award winning film, An American In Paris brings this classic tale to Broadway for the first time with music and lyrics by George Gershwinand Ira Gershwin and a book by Tony nominee and Pulitzer Prize finalist Craig Lucas.
