On the evening of Tuesday 14th November, Merrigong Theatre Company revealed its 2018 Season at a special launch event held at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre (IPAC). Under the banner You Belong Here , the program aims to embrace the diversity of our community, bringing to the stage a wide range of voices and stories, and creating a space where difference is both valued and celebrated.

Nominations were announced today for the Sydney Theatre Awards for 2016, which will be presented at a gala ceremony on Monday 23 January 2017 at 6pm at the York Theatre, Seymour Centre, a much larger venue than previous years due to the burgeoning popularity of the ceremony.

Crowded Fire Theater (CFT) is pleased to announce the cast and creative team and dates for the American Premiere of TRUCK STOP by Lachlan Philpott, opening Monday October 5, 8 pm running through October 24 at the Thick House in San Francisco's Potrero Hill. Directed by Marilee Talkington, this production marks Lachlan Philpott's first fully produced play in the United States. Philpott is an award-winning playwright in Australia whose plays have been extensively developed at American theaters including San Francisco's ACT, Crowded Fire Theater and the Magic.

Crowded Fire Theater (CFT), one of the Bay Area's most innovative and critically acclaimed producers of new plays, today announced the hiring of Mina Morita as the new Artistic Director. Morita replaces Marissa Wolf, who resigned from her post in December 2014 to become Director of New Works at Kansas City Rep. Morita's hire is the result of a national search that saw applications from over 40 talented candidates. As Artistic Associate at Berkeley Rep, Morita helped establish and run The Ground Floor: Berkeley Rep's Center for the Creation and Development of New Work. Mina also served as Board President of Shotgun Players for the past five years, during which she oversaw immense growth for the company. She will be leaving both positions to lead Crowded Fire in collaboration with longtime Managing Director and current Executive Producing Director Tiffany Cothran.

To close its 2015 Season Crowded Fire Theater will present the American Premiere of TRUCK STOP by Lachlan Philpott directed by Marilee Talkington October 1- 24, 2015.

Just last night, the Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust hosted the 2014 Steinberg Playwright Awards at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater to honor Stephen Adly Guirgis. The event featured readings by Ellen Burstyn, Kevin Corrigan, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Yul Vazquez, Felix Solis, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Ron C. Jones and Neil Tyrone Pritchard.
