Mommie Queerest is outrageous slapstick comedy

Uptown Players has revived this tradition of slapstick with its outrageous stage production Mommie Queerest, a parody of the 1970s book and hit film 'Mommie Dearest' based on the life of screen actress Joan Crawford, now running through Jul. 12 at the S4 Rose Room in the Oak Lawn area.

Dee Hoty Featured At Cleveland Play House Annual Gala 6/6

The Cleveland Play House is excited to announce that Dee Hoty, a three-time Tony Award? nominated actress, will be the featured entertainer at their Annual Gala on Saturday, June 6, 2009. Born and raised in Lakewood, Ohio, Hoty began her professional career at The Cleveland Play House as a member of the repertory company (1975 and 1976). The evening begins at 6:30pm and will include complimentary valet parking, a cocktail hour with hors d'oeuvres, dinner, silent and live auction, entertainment and dancing. Hoty earned Tony Award? nominations for her starring roles in Footloose, The Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public, and The Will Rogers Follies. She recently starred on Broadway in Mamma Mia! and continued on the national tour in eight major U.S. cities. She can be heard on the original recordings of City of Angels, The Will Rogers Follies, The Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public, and Footloose, and on the 2CD set of Stephen Sondheim's Follies from the Papermill Playhouse production. She is also featured on the video/DVD of My Favorite Broadway: The Leading Ladies. Other Broadway shows include City of Angels, Me and My Girl, Big River, The Five O'Clock Girl and Shakespeare's Cabaret. A favorite of Tommy Tune's, Hoty starred opposite him in the recent U.S. tour of Doctor Dolittle. She also appeared with Stacy Keach in the first national tour of Barnum. Her New York nightclub and cabaret appearances include the Russian Tea Room, Rainbow and Stars and the Metropolitan Room with Larry Gatlin.

Chestnut Street, announces two new Summer Music Series performances and two new Chicago Cabaret Professionals (CCP) Musical Mondays performances due to the overwhelming popularity of the cabaret concert programming launched in 2008. Jessica Andrews will continue to work with Arizona Theatre Company on a consultant basis, contributing to ATC?s short and long-term goals. Kevin E. Moore will continue to serve as Arizona Theatre Company?s Managing Director, working closely with Artistic Director David Ira Goldstein.

Cleveland Playhouse Joins Cleveland State Univ. For Occupancy In Allen Theater

In this Regional Premiere of a new musical, four young New Yorkers? lives intertwine, sometimes knowingly and sometimes when they haven?t even met. Lost thesis notes; confetti fraught with fortune-cookie wisdom; loves sought, avoided, won and lost all combine to turn ordinary days and Ordinary Days into something extraordinary. Playwright/composer Adam Gwon won the 2008 Fred Ebb Award for Musical Theatre Songwriting. When Ordinary Days played in London, What?s Onstage called it 'brilliantly written.'

Baseball buff Don, for whom winning is the only thing, is stuck with assistant coach Michael, who wants trophies for everyone, and whose only youth sport was, uh, well, curling. In Canada. The result is an exploding scoreboard worth of laughs.

Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol will be performed from December 10 - December 27. The show is adapted by Leigh Allan and Scott Stoney and has music arranged by Gregg Coffin. The 2008 premiere of this adaptation of the Dickens classic, designed especially for The Loft, was such a hit we?re making it a holiday tradition. Catch the spirit, and the spirits, as a Christmas party brings forth the tale of Scrooge's evolution from the grim miser of bah and humbug to a light-hearted spreader of joy. It?s a production true to the original, but with a new twist or two to add to the fun plus a wealth of delightful Christmas caroling.
