The New Theatre Project Cancels THE TEMPEST PROJECT; Sets New Work Concert for 6/1-3

The New Theatre Project has announced the cancellation of its current production of THE TEMPEST PROJECT. But the Ensemble is concocting another project, set for June 1-3 at 8 pm. The evening will be a concert of new work to feature original songs and spoken word material. The Ensemble of The Tempest Project will also perform pieces regarding their experience with the show, musings on the mixed blessings of failure, and ultimately performing some select material they have written for the play that we will never see. Collaborative adaptations of classical work with an eclectic and thought-provoking twist, the work that The New Theatre Project has become known for, makes its return with The Tempest Project. This exciting production offers a never-before-seen look at Shakespeare's play. The brilliantly talented, four person cast has created this piece by ruminating on the essential questions of humanity in the play that include true stories from their own lives. Throughout the lengthy rehearsal process, the performers journal, create scene work, compose music, and eventually find a deeply personal connection to the original text.

The New Theatre Project is thrilled to present its first original musical. The American Crowbar Case features music by local artists Match by Match and is created by the band's front man Gray Bouchard with a book by Jason Sebacher. Pay-what-you-can previews take place on September 30-October 1 at 8 pm with regular performances on October 7-23, Fridays through Sundays at 8 pm with additional 2 pm matinees on Sundays.

After an unexpected move to Ypsilanti, The New Theatre Project announces adjustments and additions to the lineup for Season 2: Revelation. The new season will be offered at the newly opened Mix Studio Theatre, a new addition to the downtown Ypsilanti boutique where 'cool. people. mix.' Entrances to the theater are through the store at 130 W. Michigan Ave. or via the Washington St. entrance. As part of the exciting move downtown, TNTP will now offer credit card sales but ticket prices stay constant at the low price of $10 and $15. Come early to explore beautiful downtown Ypsi and shop at Mix, open every day prior to the shows.
