NY's SoHo Playhouse will present the Off-Broadway debut of YouTube sensation Katie Goodman's Broad Comedy, the internationally-touring riotous, ridiculous, and in-your-face all-women troupe, Starring Danielle Cohn, Molly Kelleher, Tana Sirois, Carlita Victoria and Katie Goodman.

The excitement is building as the SOMA Film Festival prepares for its second annual event featuring entertaining and innovative independent films from 11 countries, and from all corners of the United States.

Join 'Broad Comedy' & 'Spontaneous Combustibles' actress and teacher, Katie Goodman for this women's weekend retreat at Chico Hotsprings, January 21 - 22. The workshop will use improv, in Goodman's words, 'to enable participants to learn self-trust, release themselves from judgment, take-risks and accept challenges, practice being present, and be flexible and open to change. The comedy improv exercises teach us to surrender to the moment, ridicule perfectionism, stay in beginner's mind, listen to our intuition, move with the flow and give up the goal.' The retreat promises that all of what will be experienced in this workshop can be easily applied to our daily lives.

If Lorelai Gilmore, with her lightning fast speech, did political satire while rapping and playing both the piano and acoustic guitar, it would look something like Katie Goodman's hybrid comedy and cabaret act. Her latest show, I Didn't F*ck It Up, ran at Stage 72 (The Triad) on June 17, her cabaret home in the city. The liberal Jewish daughter of Pulitzer-winning Boston Globe journalist Ellen Goodman is a longtime Park Slope mom who co-writes songs with husband Soren Kisel and leads the all-woman troupe, Broad Comedy. The whip-smart, wisecracking brunette with blue eyes and more than a passing resemblance to Gilmore Girls and Parenthood star, Lauren Graham, is a like a female Andy Borowitz—or John Fuselgang, who had a career in cabaret long before he became famous for his lacerating comic critiques of conservative politics.

For the past 4 years, the New York Funny Songs Fest has given a steay beat to the laughter and even inspired off-shoot festivals such as LA based comedy festival, Tenacious D's Festival Supreme and Chicago's Laughing Stock, but after the 5th and final year set to happen this weekend, May 19-21, 2016, the festival will say goodbye, at least in its current form.

After five years of ongoing renovations, the popular Upper West Side performance space the Triad Theater (158 West 72nd Street) officially re-launches today as STAGE 72 as a part of the New York Comedy Festival, which will include performances and appearances by Susie Essman, Meredith Vieira, two special editions of Celebrity Autobiography featuring Janeane Garofalo, Tony Danza, Mario Cantone, SNL alum Rachel Dratch, and more.

Tonight, October 25 marks the return of THALIA FOLLIES, NYC's only political cabaret series, coming back for its ninth season of songs, sketches, and satire on all the issues New Yorkers hold dear.
