Stand up, be visible, be present as 92Y's Fierce Todays celebrates a queer-inclusive Shabbat dinner today, November 30 with special guest Kate Bornstein - actress, writer, activist, and trailblazer. Kate whose Gender Outlaw is one of the most iconic books on gender identity, shares ideas, conversation, and fun while keeping the essence of Shabbat alive. Kate is joined by Phillip Picardi, editor-in-chief of OUT Magazine. Activist and Jewish educator Abby Stein helps lead and welcome in Shabbat. Break bread (or challah), celebrate self-love, welcome Shabbat, expand your community, and join us for a night to remember. This dinner - with kosher-style menu exclusively curated by The Eddy - is open to all. Beer and wine included.

Final Two Weeks To See Manhattan Theatre Club's THE NAP on Broadway

Manhattan Theatre Club's American premiere of The Nap, written by Olivier Award nominee Richard Bean (One Man, Two Guvnors) and directed by Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan (Lillian Hellman's The Little Foxes; Rabbit Hole; Proof) is playing its final two weeks of performances. The play must close on Sunday, November 11th at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (261 West 47th Street).

Manhattan Theatre Club will "Trans Visibility in the Theatre," a panel directly following the Sunday, November 4th matinee of The Nap. Come to an open discussion about increasing trans presence in the theatre, with panelists including Alexandra Billings (The Nap, "Transparent"), Kate Bornstein (Straight White Men, "I Am Cait"), Will Davis (India Pale Ale, Men On Boats), Alexa Fogel ("Pose" Casting Director), Bianca Leigh (The Nap, Transamerica), and Marquise Vilson (Charm). They will discuss how the arts industry can sustain and further the current push for greater trans presence and representation.

BWW Review: Young Jean Lee's STRAIGHT WHITE MEN Returns to New York Faster, Funnier and Focused

There was plenty to admire when playwright/director Young Jean Lee's STRAIGHT WHITE MEN opened at The Public Theater in November of 2014.  Those familiar with the exceedingly non-traditional work of the Obie-honoree, whose past dramatic choices have included inserting a scene from 'Sesame Street' about Mr. Hooper's death into a play about King Lear and having silent nude performers interact with audience members to explore the boundaries of comfort zones may have chuckled a bit at the thought of her stepping into theatrical territory more or less defined in this country by the naturalistic classics of dramatists like Arthur Miller and Eugene O'Neill.
