Three-time Tony Award-winner Glenn Close won London's Evening Standard Award for her iconic portrayal of Norma Desmond in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Sunset Boulevard. Close made her West End debut in bravura sold-out limited engagement at the English National Opera (ENO) in April 2016. The award was presented last night, Sunday, November 13, at a ceremony hosted by Sir Elton John and Evening Standard owner Evgeny Lebedev.

Last evening, the Palace Theater (Waterbury, CT) hosted the eighth annual Connecticut High School Musical Theater Awards, a black tie gala event that celebrates the arts and recognizes individual artistry in vocal, dance and acting performances as exhibited by Connecticut high school students. 20 schools from across the state came together to celebrate the achievement, craft and talents that make high-quality, musical theater education happen.

Presenters include Julian Decker (Les Miserables, Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame) Samantha Pollino (Hot Feet) Kimber Sprawl (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) Connor Deane (Broadway Method Academy) and many more. The gala will be hosted by Broadway veteran, Arbender Robinson (Shuffle Along, Les Miserables, Beautiful, Ragtime, Book of Mormon). Broadway Method Academy (Fairfield, CT) is a proud sponsor of the Connecticut High School Musical Theater Awards and will award two full scholarships to Best Actor and Best Actress in a Musical.

The highly anticipated Studio Cast Recording of The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the only stage collaboration from two masters of the American musical, Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, debuted in the top spot on Billboard's Cast Albums chart. The album, available from Ghostlight Records, is also the 14th bestselling current album overall for the week and number 47 on the Billboard Top 200.  Digitally, the recording soared to number 5 on the iTunes Top Albums chart in its first day and was number 9 on Billboard's Current Digital Albums chart for its first week.
