Now & Then Creative Company kicks off their 3rd Season with Pluck the Day, a new play from accomplished Arizona playwright Kirt Shineman. The company has committed this season--in its entirety--to new plays by Arizona playwrights, in collaboration with Arizona actors, directors, dramaturgs, and designers. Audiences can expect readings, workshops (staged readings with scripts in hand), and premiere productions by some of Arizona's finest writers.

It's a surprisingly incisive take on a time of life when newfound sexual freedom and large quantities of alcohol can wreak havoc on your ability to judge what matters most.'

'As a theatre artist I have always been drawn to work that explores issues of social justice, often featuring strong and vibrant female characters,' Pamela Sterling said. Sterling has been engaged to direct the week-long workshop and staged reading, January 14-19, of Jeanmarie (Simpson) Bishop's internationally celebrated one-woman show, The Joy.

Playwright Jeanmarie (Simpson) Bishop's 2011 solo work, The Joy seems eerily appropriate for development by one of the Valley's most up and coming new theatre companies. John Perovich, founding Artistic Director of Now & Then Creative Company, serves as the project's dramaturg.

The Joy, Jeanmarie (Simpson) Bishop's celebrated solo work, rises again in Phoenix on January 19th at the Metropolitan Arts Institute at 7:30 pm.
