John Calvin Abney is set to return with his self-produced LP Safe Passage on Tulsa's Black Mesa Records next Friday, September 27. Originally announced via Wide Open Country with a premiere of lead single 'Turn Again,' Safe Passage follows 2018's Coyote, which Rolling Stone Country called “dreamy folk with a good balance of sadness and sunshine.” For the new record, Abney tapped an impressive set of musicians for his studio band: fellow Tulsa Americana artist John Moreland, Shonna Tucker (John Paul White, Drive-by Truckers), Will Johnson (Centro-matic, Monsters of Folk), violinist/vocalist Megan Palmer, David Leach (John Fullbright, Jason Eady), and drummer Bryan McGrath. Together they bring to life songs that tend to look for light in the face of tragedy, worry, or self-imposed struggle. Songs such as album opener, 'I Just Want To Feel Good,' which premiered at The Bluegrass Situation this week. Abney offered, 'This song was written in a short 20-minute nova of inspiration. I had a nagging cold while up at altitude, staying in a cabin by myself in Colorado, and dodging my troubles through travel and wine. I grew tired of being a people pleaser in order to dodge conflict (the real superficial kind) and was chasing the shadow of happiness in the wake of the real thing.'

Trailblazing Bluegrassers, Sideline, are set to headline select dates at a variety of venues throughout the Fall. The group will wrap up a milestone year with a #1 single ('Crash Course In The Blues') and 125 shows (that included tours of Canada and Ireland) under their belts. Additionally, Sideline is nominated for their first IBMA awards - for Song of the Year ('Thunder Dan') and Instrumental Recording of the Year ('Cotton Eyed Joe'). 

Today, indie folk sensation Erin Rae is releasing an Amazon Original cover of Tom Paxton's 'Last Thing On My Mind.' The song is part of Amazon Music's 'Produced By' series featuring producer Matt Ross-Spang. The song is available now to stream and purchase only on Amazon Music.

Molly Tuttle has shared the official music video for 'Light Came In (Power Went Out)' from her debut album WHEN YOU'RE READY (Compass Records). Filmed in Nashville, TN, the 'Light Came In (Power Went Out)' video was directed by Jason Lee Denton. Graced with a clear, true voice and a keen melodic sense, Tuttle has become a word-of-mouth sensation for her incredible flatpicking guitar technique and exhilarating live performances. Tuttle was named 'Instrumentalist of the Year'' at the 2018 Americana Music Awards solely on the strength of her debut EP, RISE, and is also a two-time winner of the IBMA's 'Guitar Player of the Year' award.

Singer-songwriter Joe Pug has released his new song “Exit” today via CMT. The track appears on his first new album in nearly 4 years, The Flood In Color, Out July 19 via Nation of Heat Records. “Exit” was co-written by Kenneth Pattengale of the Milk Carton Kids, who also produced the album.

Oklahoma husband / wife duo, The Imaginaries, Shane Henry (guitar, vocals) and Maggie McClure (keys, piano, vocals), recently finished recording their debut album, their first together as The Imaginaries, in famed Muscle Shoals, AL.  It serves as both an introduction to their music together and the beginning of their journey as a band after both singer songwriters have had their own successes as solo artists.  Maggie, with her subtly sweet vocals and piano style blends seamlessly with Shane's blues-rock grit to form their own unique blend of Americana music.  

Today, the Nashville-based rock band The Prescriptions released the music video for their single 'She Is Waiting' from their debut album Hollywood Gold out now through Single Lock Records. This week the band embark on a tour opening for John Paul White beginning with a show at Andy's Bar & Grill in Denton, TX this Thursday, June 6.

Joe Pug's new record “The Flood In Color” is nearly four years in the making. But that betrays the fact that the making of the album was one of the most natural and rewarding processes of his career. Produced by Kenneth Pattengale of the Milk Carton Kids and engineered by Matt Ross-Spang, the album started with the goal of focusing on the simplicity of musicians playing together, live, in the same room. Recently relocating back to his childhood home in Prince Georges County, Maryland after many years spent in Chicago and Austin, Pug wanted to take a new approach. The partnership with Pattengale proved to be an irresistible opportunity to do just that.

Dylan LeBlanc's new song, “Honor Among Thieves,” is premiering today at FLOOD Magazine. Listen HERE. Of the song, LeBlanc tells FLOOD, “'Honor Among Thieves' is a song about remembering where we came from as a country and as a people, especially when we put people behind bars and take their children for trying to seek a better life for themselves.”

Today, the Nashville-based rock band The Prescriptions have released their debut album Hollywood Gold through Single Lock Records. To celebrate, the band will be doing an in-store performance at Grimey's record shop in Nashville tonight at 6pm. 

Renegade, the new album from acclaimed musician Dylan LeBlanc, will be released June 7 onATO Records and is now available for pre-order.
