Works & Process at the Guggenheim announces its Fall 2019 season. Since 1984 the performing arts series has championed new works and offered audiences unprecedented access to leading creators.

Alarm Will Sound today announces the release of its latest album The Hunger, out Friday, August 23, 2019 on Nonesuch Records. The Hunger is a riveting modern cantata by renowned contemporary composer Donnacha Dennehy rooted in the emotional, political, and socioeconomic devastation of Ireland's Great Famine (1845-52) and features performances by Alarm Will Sound, soprano Katherine Manley, and sean nós singer Iarla Ó Lionáird.

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, celebrates a landmark 35th anniversary this year. Today, the nominees for the 2019 Bessie Awards, along with the recipients of the 2019 Juried Bessie Award and 2019 Outstanding Breakout Choreographer Award, were announced and celebrated at the Bessies press conference. Young Dancemakers Company (Founding Director: Alice Tierstein; Co-Director Jessica Gaynor; Music Director: William Catanzaro), a unique dance ensemble comprised of dance students from NYC's public high schools working under the guidance of acclaimed professionals, is proud to present their 24th annual touring season which will be performed at various locations across four NYC boroughs. The series, in which young artists develop their own original choreography and present it in free public showings, will run from July 24th thru August 3rd and feature works developed under the tutelage of Alice Teirstein and Jessica Gaynor, as well as 2019 guest artist John Heginbotham of Dance Heginbotham and in workshops with members of the acclaimed Bridgman|Packer Dance, the Bessie-nominated choreographer and YDC alumn Jonathan Gonzalez, and 2019 Fosse Dance Workshop Leader and a faculty member of the Joffrey Ballet School Peter Yuen.

Last night brought out the legendary Ben Vereen and Josh Radnor who joined the sold out crowd at the Tony Award winning revival of "Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma!" at Circle in the Square.

Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC) announces the Fall 2019 season of dance, music, and multimedia presentations, running September 27 through December 6. Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma! has been visited by many stars this week. Seen in the audience and backstage were Rachel Bloom, Constance Wu, Patti LuPone, Beck Bennett, Samantha Bee, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jim Parsons and Carson Kressley.

Winners of the 64th Annual Obie Awards were announced this evening in a ceremony held at New York City's Terminal 5.

Producer Eva Price announced today that the reimagined revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! will launch its North American tour at the Civic Center Music Hall in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in the Fall of 2020. The 2020 tour will mark the first time a First Class Equity production of Oklahoma! has toured North America in 40 years.

The U.S. Presidential Scholars award one of the nation's highest honors for high school students who exemplify academic excellence is presented on behalf of the President of the United States and honors up to 161 graduating high school seniors of high potential each year. The U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts (full list below) were nominated by YoungArts to The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars and selected based on academic and artistic excellence, leadership qualities and community service. The hit reimagined revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! has announced an extension due to popular demand at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre (1633 Broadway). Oklahoma!, which opened April 7th as a limited engagement, will now have tickets available through January 19th, 2020. Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma! opened last night, April 7, at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre. It will play a limited engagement through Sunday, September 1, 2019.

As with setting a Shakespeare comedy in outer space or a Wagner opera in a subway station, director Daniel Fish's jaunty riff on Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II's 1943 classic Oklahoma! may not look or sound the way the authors imagined, but it's a lot more faithful to its source than other musical revivals that seem determined to rewrite history.

Full casting has been announced for The Bard SummerScape production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma!, directed by Daniel Fish, which is coming to Broadway direct from a critically acclaimed, sold out run at St. Ann's Warehouse this past fall.

Oklahoma!, which arrives on Broadway this spring, is taking a stand against gun violence. According to Deadline, the incoming revival just announced that it will join Hollywood's Gun Neutral Initiative, pledging that for every visible gun onstage during the show, a donation will be made to help solve gun violence.
