Alarm Will Sound today announces the release of its latest album The Hunger, out Friday, August 23, 2019 on Nonesuch Records. The Hunger is a riveting modern cantata by renowned contemporary composer Donnacha Dennehy rooted in the emotional, political, and socioeconomic devastation of Ireland's Great Famine (1845-52) and features performances by Alarm Will Sound, soprano Katherine Manley, and sean nós singer Iarla Ó Lionáird.

The NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies, New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, celebrates a landmark 35th anniversary this year. Today, the nominees for the 2019 Bessie Awards, along with the recipients of the 2019 Juried Bessie Award and 2019 Outstanding Breakout Choreographer Award, were announced and celebrated at the Bessies press conference. Young Dancemakers Company Presents Their 2019 Touring Season, July 24-August 3

Young Dancemakers Company (Founding Director: Alice Tierstein; Co-Director Jessica Gaynor; Music Director: William Catanzaro), a unique dance ensemble comprised of dance students from NYC's public high schools working under the guidance of acclaimed professionals, is proud to present their 24th annual touring season which will be performed at various locations across four NYC boroughs. The series, in which young artists develop their own original choreography and present it in free public showings, will run from July 24th thru August 3rd and feature works developed under the tutelage of Alice Teirstein and Jessica Gaynor, as well as 2019 guest artist John Heginbotham of Dance Heginbotham and in workshops with members of the acclaimed Bridgman|Packer Dance, the Bessie-nominated choreographer and YDC alumn Jonathan Gonzalez, and 2019 Fosse Dance Workshop Leader and a faculty member of the Joffrey Ballet School Peter Yuen.

Producer Eva Price announced today that the reimagined revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! will launch its North American tour at the Civic Center Music Hall in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in the Fall of 2020. The 2020 tour will mark the first time a First Class Equity production of Oklahoma! has toured North America in 40 years.

The National YoungArts Foundation (YoungArts) congratulates the 55th class of U.S. Presidential Scholars, with special acknowledgement to the 20 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts who are YoungArts winners. The U.S. Presidential Scholars award one of the nation's highest honors for high school students who exemplify academic excellence is presented on behalf of the President of the United States and honors up to 161 graduating high school seniors of high potential each year. The U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts (full list below) were nominated by YoungArts to The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars and selected based on academic and artistic excellence, leadership qualities and community service. For students who would like to be considered for this outstanding honor in the future, the YoungArts application opens on June 4, 2019 at youngarts.org/apply.
OKLAHOMA! Extends on Broadway, With Tickets Available Through January 2020

The hit reimagined revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! has announced an extension due to popular demand at Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre (1633 Broadway). Oklahoma!, which opened April 7th as a limited engagement, will now have tickets available through January 19th, 2020. Broadway-Bound OKLAHOMA! Pledges to Take a Stand Against Gun Violence

Oklahoma!, which arrives on Broadway this spring, is taking a stand against gun violence. According to Deadline, the incoming revival just announced that it will join Hollywood's Gun Neutral Initiative, pledging that for every visible gun onstage during the show, a donation will be made to help solve gun violence.
