And that's a wrap on the 2023/24 Broadway season! The final two shows of the spring officially opened last night, and BroadwayWorld was on the red carpet for The Great Gatsby as the VIP guests arrived at the Broadway Theatre. Check out photos below!

Stalled: A New Musical will receive an invite-only industry presentation on November 9, 2023.   Stalled is written by Liesl Wilke (book and lyrics) and Andy Marsh (music and lyrics), with additional music/ lyrics by Kyle Puccia (music supervisor), directed/casted by Jamibeth Margolis (Harmony Broadway, Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish), with musical direction by  Laura Bergquist (Allegiance).

Broadway Women’s Alliance hosted a special Broadway community screening of the new film Women Talking on Monday, December 5 at 6:30 pm. 

In the US, programs designed to help businesses and producers make it through the pandemic have been winding down or coming to an end over the last fiscal year - but audiences and funding aren’t yet back to their pre-pandemic levels, leaving leaders in a tough position to figure out how to get their institutions back on firm financial footing.

In late September, The Broadway League and Actors’ Equity Association kicked negotiations into high gear for the next Broadway and sit-down production contract. The last contract expired, but was extended while the two groups worked through various pandemic-related issues. Equity, ever the fan of a social media hashtag campaign, this week asked its members to share the hashtag #ItsAboutTimeBroadway along with their support for the union.

The Museum of Broadway officially opened yesterday, November 13, ahead of its official public opening tomorrow. BroadwayWorld was there and you can check out photos from the red carpet event here! ELLA: An American Miracle, a new musical written by Anna Deavere Smith (Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 and Notes From The Field) and featuring music from the Ella Fitzgerald songbook, is currently in development, with an upcoming work session held from August 25-September 21 to conclude with a private industry presentation.
