As the undeniable standard of beauty and romance, Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet means something different to everyone. Whether you first read it in school or watched one of the many film versions, the Bard's most prevailing work never fails to inspire unimaginable longing. And on the night of June 13th, 2018, American Ballet Theatre brought this classic story to the stage, taking the audience on a complete sensorial journey of love and loss.

In 2018 on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of legendary choreographer Marius Petipa, American Ballet Theatre presented the premiere of Alexei Ratmansky's meticulous historical reconstruction of the full-length Harlequinade. His wife, Tatiana Ratmansky, assisted him and appeared as the Good Fairy in some performances.

The Music Center welcomes the return of American Ballet Theatre (ABT) with the company's production of the 19th century classic ballet, La Bayadere, which will be performed at The Music Center's Dorothy Chandler Pavilion for the first time from July 13 - 15, 2018.  The final engagement of the 15th season of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at The Music Center, La Bayadere is set in royal India and tells the story of eternal love, fate, vengeance and justice.  The production will highlight ABT's stellar roster of international ballet stars, including Principal Dancers Isabella Boylston, Jeffrey Cirio, Misty Copeland, Hee Seo, Cory Stearns, Gillian Murphy, Devon Teuscher and Christine Shevchenko.

Akram Khan's acclaimed version of Giselle for English National Ballet will be screened to cinemas worldwide from 25 April. The show features Tamara Rojo as Giselle, Stina Quagebeur as Myrtha, Queen of the Wilis, and Jeffrey Cirio as Hilarion - watch them perform in an exclusive clip below!

Patricia Field, the award-winning costumer of HBO's Sex and The City (series and movies), The Devil Wears Prada movie, TV Land's current hit show Younger,and many other media projects, has chosen to bring her ARTFASHION collection to Catskill the weekend of October 6-8, 2017, as a benefit for Greene County Council on the Arts (GCCA). On the same weekend, Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, is hosting its fifth annual Hudson Valley Dance Festival at the Historic Catskill Point. The two events masterfully do not conflict with each other, making this a phenomenal opportunity for fashion, dance, and art lovers in the New York area to enjoy a blockbuster weekend in one of the most beautiful parts of the state, especially during autumn.

I was fortunate to see the Cirio Collective on Monday, June 24, 2017, a part of the Joyce Theater's Ballet Festival, July 18 - 29. Drawn to see the company of extraordinary American Ballet Theatre principal dancer, Jeffrey Cirio, the artistic director of his own company, I was not disappointed. Cirio's associate artistic director is his sister, Lia Cirio, principal dancer of the Boston Ballet, also a remarkable dancer.

Co-curated by Curatorial Associate John Selya, the Festival -- July 19-29 -- is designed to recognize dancers and choreographers who are creating work outside the traditional large company setting and, in many.

John Cranko's Eugene Onegin is often referred to as a “story ballet for grown-ups” since it is devoid of the fantasy birds and other magical creatures that populate so much of the classical ballet canon. The dancers portray real people with real emotions as Cranko brings to life Alexander Pushkin's iconic verse novel. Cranko's version of the tale has new plot twists that some critics have found dismaying while others have applauded them. I fall into the latter category.
