The story sprawls over decades, steeped in the history and culture of the American south, accompanied by the most beautiful, toe-tapping, heart-breaking folk music you've ever heard. A story rooted in family, tradition, and home deserves a venue as homey as The Firehouse Theatre.

The Firehouse Theatre is proud to present the regional premiere of Bright Star May 23 - June 9, 2019. Inspired by real events of the 1940s, Bright Star tells a tale of love and redemption told through a Grammy-nominated bluegrass score. Written by Texans Steve Martin and Edie Brickell, Bright Star premiered on Broadway in 2016. Local favorite Lucy Shea will return to Dallas from Chicago to star as Alice Murphy in Bright Star. Tyler Jeffrey Adams directs.

John Steinbeck's American literature classic, Of Mice and Men has been brought to life in a dramatic stage play opening soon at The Firehouse Theatre. Set in California during the Great Depression, the story follows two migrant workers George, a sharp but uneducated, short-tempered man, and Lennie, a large but simple-minded man. Together they hope to one day acquire their own piece of land. But when Lennie stirs up trouble on the job, George must choose between protecting his friend or staying the course towards his version of the American dream.

Oh Secret Garden, a show that is both close to my heart and vastly under produced but sort of for a reason. Despite having several strong voices and bold design choices, Brick Road's version is not quite one of these.

GOOD MORNING, THEATERATI! Down in the right-hand corner of my computer screen, it tells me that its Friday, May 19 - which means that Memorial Day Weekend is just a week away! - how in the world did we make it from New Year's Day to Memorial Day in what seems to me to be like 15 minutes? When you figure that out, please give me a heads-up so I can better prepare for Christmas shopping! Uptown Players has your weekend evenings planned as they present Broadway Our Way.  BWOW is the Players' annual fundraiser that gender-bends the typical Broadway numbers and allows some of Dallas' finest actors and actresses to play the dream roles they'd never land in a heteronormative casting call.  As it is their 16th year producing this fundraiser, Craig Lynch and Jeff Rane have certainly cultivated an incredible pool of talent.
