On Wednesday, December 16, in celebration of Beethoven's 250th Anniversary, pianist Yael Weiss will present an all-day marathon concert featuring performances of Beethoven sonatas and newly commissioned works from around the world written for her project 32 Bright Clouds as well as conversations with the composers and special guests. Along with world premieres by composers from Cambodia and Hong Kong, Weiss will also perform new pieces by composers from South Africa, Myanmar, Philippines, Turkey, Colombia, and more—alongside specific Beethoven Sonatas.

Rite of Summer Music Festival's 2020 Season has been postponed to Summer 2021 as a result of COVID-19 precautions and Federal, State, and Local guidelines. Due to mark its 10th Anniversary this summer on Governors Island, Rite of Summer Music Festival will celebrate this milestone with special extended festivities next year. The safety, health, and happiness of ROS audiences, artists, and crew are of primary concern to Artistic Directors Pam Goldberg and Blair McMillen.

Shizuka 'ShiZ'ka' Saeki is a classical pianist who began playing at age 4. She studied with renowned Japanese teachers, Toshimi Sakou, Keita Kosaka, Makoto Yamahata, and Mako Okamoto, before she built up her reputation as an exciting and nuanced performer. Her talents have taken her throughout Japan and the United States. At the age of 17, ShiZ'ka was a finalist in the Japan Classical Music Society competition. In college, she studied at Doshisha Women's College of Liberal Arts, supplementing her classical training with studies in jazz. While living in Japan, she studied with famed jazz pianist Makot Takenaka and then with Yoko Yamamoto, at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

Todd Crow is a pianist whose artistry has brought him critical superlatives in the U.S. and notably in England – there largely through regular appearances on the BBC. The New York Times has described his playing as “heroic, [showing] endless flair, color and stamina.” The Times of London has praised his performances as “spine-chilling” and “exhilarating,” and The Wall Street Journal said that his playing exhibited “stunning control and a wonderful sense of musical architecture.”
