One needn't be clairvoyant to sense that Delaney Amatrudo is destined for stardom; that's been evident, at the very least, since she was a middle schooler. For Nashville area audiences who have been lucky enough to see her live and onstage, it's very obvious that she possesses that ethereal quality which makes her stand out in any crowd, that is especially noticeable when she is onstage, and which burns brightly regardless of the situation.

Happy Birthday, Sutton Foster! Foster's portrayal of Reno Sweeney in Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Anythng Goes earned her the 2011 Tony Award Best Leading Actress in a Musical. Sutton also starred on Broadway as Princess Fiona in Shrek: The Musical, for which she was honored with Tony and Drama Desk nominations, and the Outer Critics Circle Award. Prior to that, Sutton was Inga in the Mel Brooks musical, Young Frankenstein, Janet Van De Graaff in The Drowsy Chaperone (2006 Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations, LA Ovation Award) and Jo March in Little Women: The Musical (2005 Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle Award nominations). She is the recipient of the 2002 Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, and Astaire Awards for her performance as Millie Dillmount in Thoroughly Modern Millie, a role she created in the 2000 La Jolla Playhouse premiere.

Theatre UCF's fall musical, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE is a show within a show that delights musical theater fans by spoofing everything that defines our obsession. It is definitely recommended for anyone who has listened to a show's cast album over and over again. While some jokes may fly over the heads of non-thespian loving civilians, there are still many great laugh out loud moments enjoyed by all.

The 2013 Season at the Washington Crossing Open Air Theatre continues with a musical that's always a family favorite. Scheduled for 2 weekends, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat begins on Friday, August 16 and runs through Sunday, August 25. Performances are Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 7:30 pm.
Fremont Street Theater's DROWSY CHAPERONE Begins Tonight

The Drowsy Chaperone, the Fremont Street Theater Company's second (and 2013) production, will open at 7:30 p.m., Friday, August 9 at historic Cutting Hall in Palatine. The show will run this weekend and next, August 9-11 and 16-18 for a total of six performances.

Tickets are now on sale for Minnetonka Theatre's summer production of 9 to 5 - The Musical, presented on the Arts Center on 7 Main Stage July 19- August 3. Based on the hit 20th Century Fox Picture, the story follows three female coworkers as they join forces in the late '70s to get even with their "sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot" boss after he pushes them past their limits.

Starting today, the Fine Arts Center is delivering a love letter to musical comedy with The Drowsy Chaperone, a show the New York Times praised as 'a revved-up spoof of a 1920s song-and-dance frolic.' At a recent dress rehearsal I was able to sit down with several members of the cast and crew, beginning with Scott RC Levy, director of the Fine Arts Center who is making his Colorado acting debut as Man in Chair, the character guides the audience through the cast recording of the titular Jazz Age musical.
