After two years of on and off isolation, connected to fellow humans by electronic devices alone, it is perhaps inevitable that Ivo van Hove has brought his adaptation of Jean Cocteau’s The Human Voice to the West End. This solo show focuses on a woman (played by Ruth Wilson) having one final phone conversation with her lover before he leaves her to marry someone else, contemplating the entire concept of communication through this particular medium.

The Metropolitan Opera today announced its 2022–23 season, which features seven new productions, the most in ten seasons. Opening Night is September 27 with the company premiere of Cherubini’s Medea, starring soprano Sondra Radvanovsky in the title role alongside tenor Matthew Polenzani in David McVicar’s new staging, conducted by Carlo Rizzi.

Ruth Wilson will star in Ivo van Hove’s adaptation of Jean Cocteau’s The Human Voice, which he also directs with design by Jan Versweyveld, originally produced by Internationaal Theater Amsterdam. The production opens at the Harold Pinter Theatre on 22 March, with previews from 17 March, and runs for three weeks only until 9 April.

Today, the Metropolitan Opera announced its 2020-21 season, the first in which Yannick Nézet-Séguin assumes his full breadth of musical duties as the company's Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, conducting six productions. His schedule includes the Met premiere of Jake Heggie's Dead Man Walking, the first contemporary opera conducted by the maestro on the Met stage, as part of his ongoing commitment to opera of our time at the Met, which will expand in the seasons to come.

Woensdagavond zijn de Musical Awards 2020 uitgereikt in het RAI Theater in Amsterdam. De vakjury, bestaande uit voorzitter Charles Droste en de leden Isabelle Beernaert, Marisa van Eyle, Arno Gelder, Alex Klaasen, Michiel de Regt en Tania Kross, hebben in 12 verschillende categorieën de winnaars vanavond bekendgemaakt. Grote winnaar is Lazarus, met vier awards. ANASTASIA ontving de AD Publieksprijs voor Beste Musical 2019 en Soldaat van Oranje - De Musical ontving uit handen van Prof. Mr. Pieter van Vollenhoven de Award voor Unieke Prestatie. De musical Lazarus, die in oktober afgelopen jaar in première ging, ontving onder anderen de awards voor Beste Grote Musical en Beste Regie.
