In Act I our actors are in their 70's. Neil, the husband, has retired and is about to leave home to start a new business in New Zealand. The second Act opens and our three actors are now in their 40's. Hannah, the wife, is prepared to leave her husband and run away. In Act III all are now young children, and brother Willy is going to dig a hole and move to China.
Cherry Lane's Fiordellisi to Step Down as Artistic Director in 2011

According to the NY Times, Cherry Lane Theatre's Angelina Fiordellisi, will resign as Artistic Director sometime between March and June of 2011. Additionally, Fiordellisi plans to sell the building, which has been a Greenwich Village staple since 1924, due to ongoing financial struggles.

Matthew Broderick and Kenneth Lonergan have been friends since high school. They worked together before on the film You Can Count on Me, which Lonergan wrote. A high school trip to the Hayden Planetarium is the inspiration for Lonergan's new play, The Starry Messenger, about to open Off-Broadway at The New Group and starring Broderick. The two talk about their friendship and their first stage collaboration tonight at the 92nd Street Y.

The New Group, currently represented Off-Broadway by Ian Bruce's play Groundswell, is pleased to announce its upcoming 2009-2010 season. Leading next season with previews beginning in October 2009 is the world premiere of The Starry Messenger by Kenneth Lonergan, featuring Matthew Broderick. The season continues with a major revival of A Lie of the Mind by Sam Shepard, directed by Ethan Hawke (previews begin January 2010).
