Based on the novel of the same name by Ray Bradbury, the world premiere of SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES will run at the Delaware Theatre Company through October 8.

Walnut Street Theatre continues its landmark 208th season with Oscar Wilde's classic comedy, THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST. Directed by Bob Carlton, this production begins previews on March 14th, opens on March 22nd and runs through April 30th on the Walnut's Mainstage.

Passion, greed and danger play out in MAURITIUS, the current play onstage at Act II Playhouse. This intense show is about what one character calls "the crown jewel of philately," two rare stamps from the island of Mauritius that are worth many millions of dollars if sold. The play tells an action packed tale that will have audiences engaged throughout the show. Playwright Theresa Rebeck has created a suspenseful evening of entertainment that is full of twists and turns. This show, under the direction of David Bradley, is incredibly well done, and it is an intense story about what happens when a valuable stamp collection is at the center of a conflict between two family members. The production of MAURITIUS at Act II Playhouse is a fast-paced and intense production that pulls the audience into the action of the conflict between two sisters struggling over what to do with the rare stamps.

Theatre Philadelphia has announced the nominees for the 2016 Barrymore Awards for Excellence in Theatre.

Mauckingbird Theatre Company puts its signature spin on the Gilbert and Sullivan's masterpiece The Pirates of Penzance. Directed by Artistic Director Peter Reynolds, the romantic operetta will run August 20 - September 4 at Temple University's Randall Theater. In this queer adaptation, ingenues Frederic and Mabel, both raised in LGBT societies, fall in love and face challenges of duty and acceptance. The production is a timely and relevant tale of love on the high seas.  

Smitten lovers, Crab the Dog and swing dancers collide in this year's Shakespeare in Clark Park (SCP) production of The Two Gentlemen of Verona. The classic romantic comedy is being brought to life by Kathryn MacMillan (Lantern Theater Company) and will once again showcase SCP's unique blend of classic storytelling and community engagement. The Two Gentlemen of Verona opens under the stars in 'the Bowl' of Clark Park on July 27 and runs through July 31. All performances are at 7 p.m.

11th Hour Theatre Company brings Michael John LaChiusa's mysterious See What I Wanna See to life this Spring as its Mainstage Production. This intriguing musical is set to run April 28-May 15 at the Christ Church Neighborhood House, 20 N. American Street. Act II Playhouse's production of UNNECESSARY FARCE by Paul Smith Slade is boisterous, funny, chaotic and a wonderfully done farce. According to a press release from Act II Playhouse, this show has 'Two Cops. Three Crooks. Eight Doors. One Killer in a Kilt.' Without giving too much away, this show is about an undercover cop and a rookie cop who are prepared to take down a corrupt mayor, but just like in any good farce, everything that can go wrong does go wrong. UNNECESSARY FARCE at Act II Playhouse is a delightfully amusing show that will have audiences laughing throughout the show.

PlayPenn, Philadelphia's nationally recognized professional new play development organization, announces the directors, dramaturgs, actors and designers that will participate in its 10th annual New Play Development Conference. Held from July 6 - July 27 at the Adrienne Theater (2030 Sansom Street) in Philadelphia, the Conference includes three weeks of intensive work along with staged readings open to the public of six new plays.
