Arts on the Horizon, the DC metro area's only theatre company exclusively focused on creating original work for children ages 0 - 6, presents Blossom's Rainbow March 11 - 29, 2015 at the Athenaeum in Alexandria, VA. Blossom's Rainbow brings the beauty, joy, and magic of DC's cherry blossoms to young children ages 2 - 5 and their families through this world-premiere performance. This nonverbal play, created, directed and choreographed by Margot Greenlee, features live music composed and performed by taiko artist Mark H Rooney.

This season, Imagination Stage will introduce their latest offering, Blue. In its East Coast premiere, Blue is a play about colors, tolerance, and understanding. Join Inky and Blue in this play filled with humor, whimsy, and all the colors of the rainbow. Completing the 2014-15 Early Childhood season are fan favorites, Wake Up, Brother Bear, Inside Out, and Aquarium.

KWAIDAN (Japanese for 'ghost stories'), Spooky Action Theater's current production, is a must-see, although it is impossible to describe this mood piece. The performance plays mind-games with the attendees, making them feel like they are surrounded by spirits.

The Carolina Layaway Grail, a new play by Allyson Currin, opens March 22, 2014 at the Atlas Performing Arts Center under the direction of Sonya Robbins.

YELLOW FACE, appearing at Theater J, is a serio-comedy by David Henry Hwang, based on his involvement in the casting controversy in 1990 regarding Cameron Mackintosh's insistence on having a white actor play a non-white role. The excellent production is well worth seeing.

The Hub Theatre has announced its first annualHUB PLAY FEST, a staged reading festival showcasing new plays. The two-day festival features four new play readings, and offers two insightful Panel Discussions about topics relevant to theatre in America. The entire festival is free and open to the public.

P.Nokio, written by hip-hop theatre artist and playwright Psalmayene 24 and called "inspired and quirky" by The Washington Post, updates the classic Pinocchio story with a new beat for today's audiences. Made possible by a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, this Helen Hayes Recommended musical enjoyed its world premiere at Imagination Stage this past February and a successful tour to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in March.
