The Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU has commissioned a new dramatic work based on the museum's current exhibition, Stitching History from the Holocaust. The new one act play is called A Stitch in Time, and is about the true story of Paul and Hedwig "Hedy" Strnad who tragically perished in the Holocaust after failed attempts in 1939 to secure a visa to flee to the U.S. from Prague.

The Night of the Iguana, Tennessee Williams' soul-searching, compassionate, surprisingly funny, and achingly poetic 1961 play about a defrocked minister and his one chance for salvation, opens Palm Beach Dramaworks' 2016-2017 season today, October 14 (8pm) at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre. Performances continue through November 13, with specially priced previews on October 12 and 13.

Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress and singer Leslie Uggams (Roots, Hallelujah, Baby!) will open a new window this holiday season when she stars in Jerry Herman's glorious musical MAME at the Wick Theatre in Boca Raton, Florida. Based on the 1955 novel Auntie Mame by Patrick Dennis, this Tony Award-nominated classic is filled with irresistible songs including 'Open a New Window,' 'We Need a Little Christmas,' 'Bosom Buddies' and 'If He Walked into My Life.' The book is by Jerome Lawrence and Robert Edwin Lee with music and lyrics by Jerry Herman.

South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center presents An Evening of Broadway Songs and the Carbonell Award Winners on Saturday, October 25 at 7:30pm and 9:30pm as part of the Center's Cabaret Series. A portion of the proceeds for this event will support the Carbonell scholarships awarded to graduating high school seniors to pursue a degree in theater or journalism.
