BWW Review: No Babying the Audience at BAMBINO, the Opera for Toddlers, at the Met

No one in the audience was on Facebook or Twitter during Lliam Paterson's opera BAMBINO at the Met's List Hall--a rare occurrence for the company these days--on Friday May 4. In fact, no one looked at a cell phone at all during the performance. And nobody fell asleep--even though the opera was written for 6-18 month-olds and the children might have been forgiven for napping on the comfy pillows that filled the stage. (Their parents were on good behavior, too.)

Buffalo Theatre Ensemble (BTE) rounds out its 2016-2017 'Year of the Phoenix' Season in the McAninch Arts Center's intimate Playhouse Theatre with Alan Ayckbourn's 'Improbable Fiction,' directed by BTE ensemble member, Bryan Burke,* May 4-June 4. Improbable Comedy presents a clean, premium stand-up comedy show at the Highwood Theatre in Silver Spring. The line-up includes headliner Bengt Washburn and features Randolph Terrance and emcee Michele Sometimes-Gray. The March 30 show will be the first all-clean show that the Silver Spring-based production company will be offering.
