40 years after the hugely popular satirical sketch show Spitting Image was first filmed in Birmingham, the iconic puppets return to the city for the World Premiere of Idiots Assemble: Spitting Image Saves the World at Birmingham Rep.

Open Gate International Film Festival is set to return for its 2nd year, November 11-13th, at the West Newton Cinema in West Newton, Massachusetts. The lineup includes 48 independent films and 27 screenplays from over 20 countries around the globe.

The six-track release features remixes from dance titans Oliver Heldens and R3HAB, Italian artist Gabry Ponte, Spinnin’ Records’ HEADER, Guetta collaborator Ralph Wegner, and a ‘Waterfalled’ version of the original. It follows a recent collection of remixes from the likes of Tiësto, Cedric Gervais, Brooks and DJs From Mars.

New festive programming from beloved series includes the “Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock” Night of the Lights holiday special and “Sago Mini Friends” Thanksgiving special premiering on Friday, November 18, and holiday specials from “Interrupting Chicken,” “Pretzel and the Puppies,” and “The Snoopy Show.”

The film, featuring Mackesy’s distinctive illustrations brought to life in full color with beautiful hand-drawn animation, stars Tom Hollander (“The Night Manager”) as The Mole, Idris Elba (“Luther”) as The Fox, Golden Globe Award winner Gabriel Byrne (“All Things Bright and Beautiful”) as The Horse, and newcomer Jude Coward Nicoll as The Boy. 

The thriller follows recently widowed Dr. Nate Daniels (Idris Elba) and his two teenage daughters (Iyana Halley and Leah Sava Jeffries) as they travel to a South African game reserve managed by Martin Battles (Sharlto Copley), an old family friend and wildlife biologist. On Tuesday, September 13th, Drew takes the show on the road to join Katy Perry on-site at her Las Vegas residency, PLAY. Drew will continue to go on-location at New York’s August Wilson Theater for an exclusive sit-down with “Funny Girl” star Lea Michele, who shares what it’s been like landing her dream role of Fanny Brice.

The pair created the song for the film Three Thousand Years of Longing, which was directed by George Miller (Mad Max: Fury Road) and stars Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton. Bocelli makes his motion picture debut in the film, playing Prince Mustafa. Holkenborg composed the score for Three Thousand Years of Longing.

Megan Thee Stallion co-hosting the show on Aug. 11. That will be followed by a three-day long “Tonight Show” takeover by multi-platinum, award-winning musician Demi Lovato on Aug. 16-18. Madonna is a part of the Superstar Super Summer lineup of special guests that includes Sterling K. Brown, Idris Elba, Kate McKinnon, Martin Short and more.
