Quintessence Theatre Group, a professional classic theatre company located in Philadelphia's Mt. Airy neighborhood, takes on Shakespeare's greatest tragedy this spring. KING LEAR, a searing drama about the dangers of absolute power, comes to Quintessence from March 19, 2019 through April 20, 2019. Opening night is Saturday, March 23 at 7:30PM.

Betrayal is a sophisticated drama and a devastatingly honest exploration of love, sex, marriage, and friendship. Told backwards from the end to the beginning, Harold Pinter's narrative masterpiece will move and astonish you.

The World Premiere of the new off-Broadway play Eco Village by Phoebe Nir, will include a Post-Show Talkback moderated by Justice Nnnanna featuring farmers Nailah Marie, Amber Tamm Canty and Myriah Towner, with special invited audiences from Striver's Row and The Creative Collective, as well as an Afro Flow Yoga-Session led by Pilin Anice following the 4pm performance of Eco Village on Sunday, February 10, 2019.

Eco Village will preview from January 15-21, with opening night on January 24. Performances: Monday and Wednesday at 7pm; Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8pm; and Saturday and Sunday at 3pm. Lantern Theater Company continues its 25th anniversary season with Betrayal by Harold Pinter, a devastatingly honest exploration of love, sex, marriage, and friendship, and widely regarded as the influential playwright's masterpiece. Lantern resident director Kathryn MacMillan directs a cast that includes Lantern veterans Genevieve Perrier, Jered McLenigan, and Gregory Isaac, and Ryan Hagan in his Lantern debut. People's Light Founding Member Ken Marini makes his Quintessence debut as director of this classic work which stars local legends and Barrymore Winners Frank X and Johnnie Hobbs Jr. Waiting for Godot runs January 31-February 18. Lantern Theater Company announced today that its record-breaking 2016/17 season closing production of The Gospel According to Thomas Jefferson, Charles Dickens and Count Leo Tolstoy: Discord will extend its run to meet audience demand and will now close on Sunday, July 9, 2017. Reggae Legend, Beres Hammond, known for his distinctive brand of 'lover's rock', makes his debut at the Capitol Theatre on Friday, August 4 at 8 pm.  Tickets go on sale Friday, June 2 at 10 am.
