The Show Must Go On: MUSICALS: THE MUSICAL Presents Impromptu Performance During Blackout

THE MUSICAL OF MUSICALS: THE MUSICAL, an affectionate spoof of the musical genre, is one of the hits of the 2013 Toronto Fringe Festival. The show began a seven-performance run on July 3 to an ecstatic crowd at the Factory Theatre that greeted it with a rousing standing ovation. Critic Glenn Sumi of Now Magazine was in the opening crowd and declared the show the festival's first hit of 2013. He gave it a 4-star review, predicting that the show would quickly sell out -- which it did on its second showing on July 6.

TERMINUS wins big at this year's Toronto Theatre Critics' Awards, which were announced today (awards to be given out at a later date). The awards are determined by Toronto critics who represent five of the city's newspapers: The Globe and Mail (J. Kelly Nestruck); The Grid (Martin Morrow); NOW (Glenn Sumi); The National Post (Robert Cushman); and the Toronto Star (Richard Ouzounian).

Tracey Erin Smith's SoulOTheatre Announces Programming

Artistic Director and award-winning solo performer Tracey Erin Smith has announced the programming for SoulOTheatre's inaugural SoulOTheatre Festival. Some of best solo performers from Canada and the United States take the stage from May 23-26 at the Red Sandcastle Theatre in Toronto's Leslieville. As well, the festival features a series of panels and workshops, with experts teaching the public how to do this work themselves.

Toronto Theatre Critic's take to the stage this Sunday in a special benefit performance of You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, with proceeds going to The Actor's Fund. Featuring Kelly Nestruck, Robert Cushman, Glenn Sumi, Sheila McCarthy and Melody A. Johnston, the show also includes BWW's own Kelly Cameron as one of the Snoopy's. In this special feature, she talks about her hidden desire to be force to be reckoned with on-stage, setting the bar a smidge above terrible, and humbly requests that you throw bones in lieu of tomatoes.
