George Takei Emcees National Corporate Theatre Fund Gala Honoring Vanessa Williams Tonight

Tonight, April 29th, at New York City's Pierre Hotel, the National Corporate Theatre Fund (NCTF) will honor Vanessa Williams, American Express and five resident theatres celebrating their 50th anniversary - Actors Theatre of Louisville, Guthrie Theater, Hartford Stage, Seattle Repertory Theatre and Trinity Repertory Company - at NCTF's annual Chairman's Awards Gala. Actor George Takei, star of the Broadway-bound musical Allegiance, emcees the event.

Director Micah Linford sees important parallels between the pious fraud of the title and other characters, real and fictional, in every era. [Think of Jim Baker or Elmer Gantry.] He has set this production in the 1930s U.S. with reference to the Depression.

English National Ballet dancers turn choreographers when five of them get a chance to create new works in collaboration with students from the Royal College of Music. In a new partnership, Choreographics, A Letter To ... will bring together aspiring choreographers and composers to create new work which will be performed by English National Ballet dancers at The Place, in London, May 3-4, 2013.

Olney Theatre Center's National Players celebrated 60 years of touring at a benefit at the Inn at Brookville Farms on Monday, December 7. Helping to celebrate was Tony Award-winning actor Roger Bart, who is currently touring in Young Frankenstein after originating the role of Dr. Frederick Frankenstein on Broadway. Roger is also known for his role as George Williams, the murderous pharmacist, on Desperate Housewives. Roger performed in A Little Night Music at Olney Theatre Center in 1986.
