Anyone who has had a loving dog as their companion will certainly understand the glory of waking up next to the best friend you could possibly ever have. No doubt among those people are the men who created BARK! The Musical, composer David Troy Francis; book by Mark Winkler and Gavin Geoffrey Dillard, with lyrics by Gavin Geoffrey Dillard, Mark Winkler, Robert Schlock, Jonathan Heath and Danny Lukic, when they created such a fabulous, episodic song fest to the glory of dog, musically communicated from six very different types of pooches as each awaits a happy reunion with their master at the end of the day.

PBS today announced its fall 2018 schedule lineup, anchored by THE GREAT AMERICAN READ (Tuesdays, September 11- October 23). Exploring the power, passion and joy of reading, the series is hosted by Meredith Vieira and features reflections from everyday Americans as well as notables. Margaret Atwood, Lauren Graham, John Irving, Bill T. Jones, Devon Kennard, Gayle King, Diane Lane, George R.R. Martin and many more reflect on their favorite books. The series will culminate with the results of the first-ever national vote for “America's Best-Loved Novel.”

Today PBS announced BETTY WHITE: FIRST LADY OF TELEVISION will premiere this summer on Tuesday, August 21 (Times Vary by Location, Check Local Listings). Filmed over the course of five years by the team behind the acclaimed PIONEERS OF TELEVISION series,BETTY WHITE: FIRST LADY OF TELEVISION is a warm look at the life and career of the beloved television and film legend who celebrates 80 years in show business this year — officially the longest career in the history of TV. Lauded for her roles as the bawdy Sue Ann on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” the innocent Rose on “The Golden Girls” and her more recent role as the worldly Elka on “Hot in Cleveland,” Betty White is also an industry pioneer. She was the first woman to produce a national TV show, the first woman to star in a sitcom, the first producer to hire a female director and the first woman to receive an Emmy nomination.

The McCallum's own Chad Hilligus will sing music by Leonard Bernstein, and virtuoso tubist John van Houten will play the haunting "Gabriel's Oboe." Plus, music from Bizet's "Carmen," "Yiddish Dances" by Adam Gorb, and marches from the U.S., Canada, New Zealand and more. And there's free ice cream for everyone after the concert! This season's McCallum Theatre Band Concert, led by McCallum President and CEO Mitch Gershenfeld (Conductor), will feature Chad Hilligus (Tenor), John Van Houten (Tuba), and Patricia Bosley (Guest Conductor).
