The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, which is entering its 85th year, today announced the casts for the 2020 season, featuring some of the most beloved performers from OSF's history alongside newcomers from around the country. OSF is one of the most prominent theatre companies across the nation that have joined the Jubilee, a yearlong nationwide commitment by theatres to feature work generated by those who have traditionally been excluded from or marginalized by the theatre industry. Five Shakespeare plays staged as four productions, alongside two new plays inspired by him, take the Festival's stages in 2020. Two more commissions from OSF's multi-decade commissioning program American Revolutions: the United States History Cycle will also premiere.

VIOLET, music by Jeanine Tesori and lyrics/book by Brian Crawley, opened on Broadway in 2014.  It is the story of Violet, a young woman with a disfigured face, on a quest for a miracle to heal her scars and therefore, solve all of her problems.  On the way, she learns that outward appearances are not always what they seem and to find true happiness, you have to look beyond what you see.

If you have never seen SIDE SHOW, you need to make sure that you get out to the PNC Arts Annex this weekend to see this show.  If you are a lover of musical theatre, this is one not to be missed.

The Theatre School at DePaul University is pleased to present Three Sisters by Anton Chekhov and directed by Jacob Janssen on the Fullerton Stage at The Theatre School at DePaul University. The production opens on Friday, April 13, and runs through Sunday, April 22, 2018. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Previews are on April 11 and 12 at 7:30 PM. 

Going into the Mathile Theatre on Saturday night, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. I am not overly familiar with The Who's music but I do remember that my older brother had a copy of the Tommy album back in the 70's. I also think that I may have actually played pinball on a Tommy machine. Consequently, my mind was a pretty clean slate and I was ready to enjoy the evening.

The production premieres on Friday, January 26, and runs through Sunday, February 4, 2018. Performances are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Billy Elliot the Musical today (16 November 2015) welcomes Euan Garrett, 12 years old from East Lothian, Scotland, who will make his West End stage debut at the Victoria Palace Theatre as the forty-second boy to play the title role in the iconic British musical in London.  Also joining the cast today is Matthew Seadon-Young who will play Billy's older brother Tony.

The 5th Avenue Awards will be held at 7:00 PM, tonight, June 4, at The 5th Avenue Theatre.
