Savoy Jazz will reissue their Grammy nominated collection of jazz pioneer Charlie Parker's seminal recordings from the 1940's, 'CHARLIE PARKER: THE COMPLETE SAVOY AND DIAL STUDIO RECORDINGS 19441948' on 180 gram vinyl in a 10 LP set.

It will be a “Wonderful, Wonderful” evening of music as the immensely popular recording artist Johnny Mathis returns to Segerstrom Center for the Arts for one night only on Saturday, November 8 at 7:30 p.m. in Segerstrom Hall. Celebrating his 58th year in the music industry and a sublime vocalist whose approach to pop music eclipses passing fads and trends, Mathis has performed songs in an incredible variety of styles and categories – from music composed for stage and film to golden era jazz standards and contemporary pop hits – all of which has assured his reputation as one of the most enduring vocalists in music history. The program will include beloved hits such as, “Chances Are,” “Misty,” “A Certain Smile,” and much more.

Musical Director and pianist extraordinaire Jon Weber can play every imaginable musical style and for a wide variety of cabaret and concert singers, but this superlative keyboardist is really a jazz man at heart. Weber knows that the intricacies of certain music languages-whether classical or jazz-can be frustratingly elusive, so he's made it his mission to educate the masses, or in this case a few hundred people who after this Tuesday night at 7 pm will have attended one of his four entertaining classroom sessions at the Metropolitan Room, called 'From Joplin to Jarrett: 115 Years of Piano Jazz.' And when some of the students in the audience are among the most accomplished instrumentalists in New York, you realize that your teacher is a virtuoso.

Norm Lewis makes his eagerly anticipated solo debut at American Songbook on Saturday night at 8:30pm. The show is SOLD OUT, and has been for weeks, and he has been in what he calls 'training' for the last few months. His musical director is Joseph Joubert (Motown, The Color Purple, Violet, Leap of Faith) and the evening is directed by Richard Jay-Alexander., for whom Norm did 'Javert' along with Hugh Panaro as 'Valjean' in last summer's blockbuster success of LES MISERABLES at The Muny in St. Louis.

Saxophonist Jimmy Heath first appeared at the Blue Note in 1984 and has become a regular throughout the club's 31 year history. He has also celebrated three birthdays at the club for his 70th, 80th and 85th birthdays. (6pm - 7pm cocktail; 7pm - 8pm awards program & dinner). This event celebrates 25 years of growth for the museum.
