La MaMa announced today their 2019 Gala celebrating Ellen Stewart's Centennial.

Actor and entertainer Pamela Shaw, traces her journey from an obedient and deferential childhood to the independent and irreverent personality she has become, in this humorous and captivating musical memoir. Through expanded musical numbers and dance, spiced up with witty narrative and film clips, Shaw gets naughtier than ever in her funny, provocative, musically eclectic new show, Naughty with a Band, which comes to Feinstein's at Vitello's in Studio City for One Night Only on September 17 at 8:00 p.m.; doors open for dinner at 6:30 p.m.

The Flea Theater presents the World Premiere of THE INVENTION OF TRAGEDY,the centerpiece of MAC WELLMAN: PERFECT CATASTROPHES, a festival of plays by the influential vanguard playwright. Now in previews, performances run through October 14 at The Flea (20 Thomas Street in Tribeca, between Church and Broadway, three blocks north of Chambers) with opening set for September 21.

The American Theatre Wing and The Village Voice announce that Artistic Director of New York Theatre Workshop, James C. Nicola, and Artistic Director and founder of Theatre For A New Audience, Jeffrey Horowitz, will receive special Obie Awards for Lifetime Achievement at the 64th Annual Obie Awards, which will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Terminal 5 (610 West 56th Street).

What does an archive considered to be "the crown jewels" of public and network television and Anton Chekhov have in common? They are all headed to BroadwayHD, the premier streaming service for live theater, in May.  This month, BroadwayHD will be adding a selection of premier titles from the Broadway Digital Archive, which brings together Broadway plays and great works of literature produced for television over the past five decades.

New York Deaf Theatre (NYDT) closes their 39th season with an accessible performance of EVERY BRILLIANT THING by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe. This production marks James Caverly's directorial debut in New York City. Previews begin Saturday, April 27, and Opening night is on Sunday, April 28 at 7:00pm

Provocateur Thomas Bradshaw revisits his incendiary 2008 play SOUTHERN PROMISES in a new production helmed by The Flea's Artistic Director, Niegel Smith. SOUTHERN PROMISES begins previews Monday, March 11 with opening night slated for Sunday, March 24.
