Producer Michael Urie has announced that Happy Birthday Doug – the comedy written and performed by Drew Droege (the Internet’s “Chloë,” “Drunk History,” “Bob’s Burgers,” RuPaul’s “AJ and the Queen” on Netflix) – will return Off-Broadway for a special Pride weekend engagement for four shows only from June 23-26 at 7:00 PM.

GRAMMY Award-winning founding member of the rock group the Police Stewart Copeland will host the West Coast premiere of his original oratorio Satan's Fall at Pepperdine University's Smothers Theatre in Malibu on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 7:30 p.m.

First Folio Theatre will present the World Premiere of Agatha Christie’s The Secret Council, adapted by David Rice. The show will preview January 26th - 28th, open January 29th, and run through February 27th, 2022.

Female Gothic comprises of three lost gothic spine-tinglers from great Victorian female writers – adapted and performed by Rebecca Vaughan (Dyad Productions) and directed by Olivier award winner Guy Masterton.

The mysterious, supernatural, and dramatic energy that characterizes the work of Edgar Allen Poe was superbly captured in Gretna Theatre's production of Nevermore. Six popular stories, adapted into powerful monologues and performed in a unique outdoor environment, captivated and haunted theatre goers.

Gretna Theatre, in keeping with their reputation for creating unique and innovative productions, brings to life an interactive theatrical experience based on the works of Edgar Allen Poe. Tackling the multitude of delays and disruptions caused by the pandemic, Gretna Theatre has managed to successfully produce a season filled with laughter, mayhem, and even a few circus arts. As one of the nation's oldest running summer theatres, the season's end is coming near. Instead of winding down, they have opted for a challenging format and exploration into new territory.

An early start to the year's creepiest season, Halloween, began on Friday night with the return of The Coterie Theatre’s presentation of ELECTRIC POE 2021. This is the second year of the special engagement at the oldest cemetery in Kansas City, Union Cemetery, and runs through October 31. I described last year's performance as “Haunting”, but the intensity of this year's program makes last year appear like ‘Itsy, Bitsy Spider’.

Two years after the death of his beloved wife, Edgar Allan Poe (played by Christian Gray) grapples with love and madness in this wildly innovative theater experience. The audience will follow the ghost of Virginia Poe (played by Erica Bittner) as she stirs up memories from beyond the grave, or follow Poe himself as he winds his way from “The Telltale Heart” to “The Pit and the Pendulum.”

Familiar faces, familiar characters, and a familiar red dog house with a delightful white beagle and a fleeting yellow bird make up the musical sequel to the ever so popular You’re a Good Man Charley Brown. This time the tables are turned on Charley Brown and the gang and we hear the story of Snoopy and the many comings and goings of a dog’s life centered around the kids in the neighborhood. Georgia Mallory Guy and team have assembled an All-Star cast complete with an Adult ensemble and a Young Actors Ensemble. The Adult ensemble play the parts of the characters and the young ensemble make up the chorus, but there is not a weak link in the entire company, all coming together for a swiftly paced two hour trip down memory lane. Complete with 15 toe-tapping numbers, Snoopy and his lovable gang will have you smiling from ear to ear with delight by the end of the show.

Rapp is thrilled to return to Oxford where she lived for a couple of years in the mid 90s to study short story writing before moving back to Los Angeles to write movies for Robert Altman. Two years later her movie, Cookie’s Fortune, a Mississippi comedy, was directed and produced by Altman and filmed in Holly Springs, Mississippi.    

The Borough of Manhattan Community College theatre program is presenting an original four-part audio (Podcast) musical theatre production based on the true story of Mary Rogers- a woman who worked in a lower Manhattan cigar shop back in the 1840's that was located just blocks from the present day BMCC campus. 

Zachary James has debuted CALL OUT, simultaneous visual and audio albums of works composed by women, now released on streaming music platforms. James is joined on the album by pianist Charity Wicks, cellist Jeffrey Zeigler, theorboist Brandon Acker, steel guitarist Kevin Skrla, guitarist Frederick Poholek, and vocalist Megan Nielson.

Don’t touch the merchandise! A new, “gaytastic” comic solo play, written and performed by self-confessed rage-aholic Tom DeTrinis, will be filmed live at L.A.’s Pico Playhouse for digital release by IAMA Theatre Company. Directed by Drew Droege, Making Friends will be available for viewing beginning Dec. 17 and continue streaming through Jan. 11, 2021.

The Alley Theatre has announced the cancellation of all in-person performances of the 2020-21 season. The following shows are affected by the cancellation: Born with Teeth by Liz Duffy Adams (January 22 – February 14, 2021), Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett (March 5 – 28, 2021), and more.
