SF Opera Lab Presents THE SOURCE, 2/24

SF Opera Lab presents composer Ted Hearne's universally acclaimed digital-age oratorio The Source, drawn from the contents of Chelsea Manning's WikiLeaksrelease and called 'some of the most expressive socially engaged music in recent memory-from any genre" by Pitchfork. Previously performed in New York City and Los Angeles, the six performances of The Source on February 24-26 and March 1-3, 2017 at the Dianne and Tad Taube Atrium Theater open Season Two of San Francisco Opera's SF Opera Lab programming.

As part of the twelfth edition of PS122's Coil festival, Performance Space 122 and The Chocolate Factory Theater present Daniel Fish's latest, untitled work. Made for a very small audience, and performed during daylight hours, Untitled uses light, set and sound to ruminate on the passage of time, our perception of it, and to pose questions about how alert an audience can be as both individuals and a group.

Grammy-Winning Roomful of Teeth to Perform at Swarthmore College

Roomful of Teeth, a GRAMMY-winning vocal project dedicated to mining the expressive potential of the human voice, will perform at Swarthmore College on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lang Music Building, Concert Hall. The event is free and open to the public, but reservations will be available starting February 1.  More information on making a reservation can be found at: http://bit.ly/2gGjJB4

The "remarkable vocal octet" (New York Times) Roomful of Teeth joins SF Opera Lab's Season Two lineup with a performance on Sunday, April 23 at 5 p.m. in the Taube Atrium Theater at the Diane B. The San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) will host a special concert on November 4, featuring Alan Pierson, conductor of the acclaimed contemporary music group Alarm Will Sound, directing the SFCM New Music Ensemble in two politically charged works: Ted Hearne's Katrina Ballads and Frederic Rzewski's Coming Together. In a special appearance, activist and author Angela Davis will act as the narrator in Rzewski's Coming Together and facilitate a conversation at the end of the concert about the topics presented in the concert.

Texas Performing Arts presents a vocal-infused double bill featuring Grammy Award®-winning ensemble Roomful of Teeth and an encore performance of Mozart Requiem Undead by Panoramic Voices (formerly the Texas Choral Consort and Orchestra) along with Austin-based vocal ensemble Convergence. The evening will also feature the world premiere of Caleb Burhans' Tired Tropes for Battered Souls, which has been commissioned by Texas Performing Arts and KMFA-FM.
