Who doesn't know THE WIZARD OF OZ? And even if by some strange coincidence the multiple books of L. Frank Baum have managed to escape you, the classic MGM film (on which this production is based) has been a television staple and family viewing tradition for decades.

The 1947 musical fantasy FINIAN'S RAINBOW, with music by Burton Lane and lyrics by E.Y. Harburg, gets the Spinning Tree-tment September 1-17. The score, "one of the most enduringly delicious ever concocted for an American musical" (The New York Times), includes "Old Devil Moon," "How are things in Glocca Morra" and "Look to the Rainbow."

Producers John Frost and Suzanne Jones today announced their new star who will play the coveted role of Dorothy Gale in the upcoming Australian tour of the world's favourite musical, The Wizard of Oz. Creative Cauldron announces American classic musical The Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum with music and lyrics by Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg, directed by Creative Cauldron Artistic Associate, Matt Conner. The story is the whirlwind journey of a Kansas farm girl, Dorothy, swept away to the magical Land of Oz where she meets a cast of iconic characters, like the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion, on her journey home. Creative Cauldron will reimagine what the Library of Congress called 'America's greatest and best-loved homegrown fairytale' within their intimate black box theatre, featuring a virtuosic cast of local talent and an ensemble cast drawn from Creative Cauldron's new Professional Musical Theatre Workshop.

Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre's founding artistic director Fred Anzevino today announced the company's lineup for the 2017-18 season, its last in its Rogers Park venue, the No Exit Café. The company will move into a new home in Evanston for the 2018-19 season. Their '17-'18 season will open in September with William Finn and James Lapine's 1998 off-Broadway hit, A New Brain. The musical, which was inspired by a real-life medical crisis Finn experienced, concerns a songwriter who while in a coma and awaiting life-threatening brain surgery, hallucinates about the songs he has yet to write and the people in his life. Its score includes some of Finn's most romantic, humorous and joyous songs, such as “I'd Rather Be Sailing,” “The Music Still Plays On” and “I Feel So Much Spring.” A New Brain will be directed by Anzevino, with music direction by Jeremy Ramey and choreography by Cameron Turner. It will run from September 15  through October 29.

'Dr. Jazz' as the famous oncologist (Dr. Arthur Topilow) from Jersey Shore Medical Center is known will be accompanying one of the world's most celebrated jazz vocalists Ann Hampton Callaway in an all-Arlen concert on Sunday, April 2, 2017, at 3 p.m. at the Axelrod Performing Arts Center (APAC).

Hale Centre Theatre, Utah's professional family theater, officially unveiled its 2018 entertainment season that will mark the first full year in the new 130,000 square-foot Mountain America Performing Arts Centre in Sandy City. The 2018 season, sponsored by Mountain America, will feature eight productions on the season ticket and two special engagement productions. They will run non-stop on the theater's proscenium thrust, Jewel Box Stage, and the larger, one-of-a-kind Centre Stage, built by international stage design company Tait Stage Technology.
