Colman Domingo will join Gotham's Board of Directors. As the newest member, the star of “Rustin” and “The Color Purple” will work with The Gotham on their mission to celebrate and nurture independent film and media creators by providing career-building resources, access to industry influencers, and pathways to wider recognition.

Colman Domingo will direct and star in an upcoming Nat King Cole biopic. Domingo also co-wrote the screenplay for the upcoming movie musical. The film follows a play about Cole that Domingo co-wrote, Lights Out: Nat ‘King’ Cole, which premiered at the Geffen Playhouse in 2019.

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets (MAC) has announced that Kevin Kelso (music) and Hillary Rollins (lyrics) are the winners of MAC's 2023 Dottie Burman Award songwriting competition, and that Sonya Hayden (music and lyrics) is the winner of MAC's 2023 John Wallowitch Award songwriting competition. The winners will share in the $500 award that comes with each of the two competitions.
