Theatre by the Sea recently opened its production of West Side Story. Celebrating the multi cultural spirit of this show, Roberto Araujo (Pepe u/s Bernardo and Chino) directs and choreographs this music video to Gloria Estefan's 'Oye!'. Bill Hanney's award winning Theatre By The Sea (TBTS) presents the beloved musical classic, WEST SIDE STORY. Shakespeare's immortal 'Romeo & Juliet' is transported to 20th century New York City, where two idealistic young lovers, with only their love in common, find themselves caught between warring street gangs and clashing cultures. WEST SIDE STORY runs from Wednesday, June 22 thru Saturday, July 16, 2016.

National Asian Artists Project celebrated its 5th Anniversary of 'showcasing the work of Asian-American theatre artists through performance, outreach and educational programming' on October 5th at 8pm at NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (56 LaGuardia Place) with PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE, a one-night-only Gala Benefit evening featuring a line-up of show-stopping wall-to-wall musical numbers from Broadway shows, highlights from past NAAP productions and current material, as well as what Baayork Lee hopes to stage in the future. When Music Circus presented a spectacular production of 'Big River' earlier this summer, it seemed nothing could top it. Four weeks later, 'West Side Story' has come 'cannonballing down through the sky, gleam in its eye, bright as a rose.' Playing through Sunday at California Musical Theatre's Wells Fargo Pavilion, the Romeo-and-Juliet-based musical takes its audience for an emotional ride that builds tension with skill and moves in strides with hope and heart.

Steps Beyond announces another of its lively and informative Artists Talks with three 'Broadway Babies' who can rightly be called The Women of Fosse - Diane Laurenson, Dana Moore and Mimi Quillin. Laurenson and Moore have appeared in five Fosse shows between them - Sweet Charity, Chicago, Fosse, Dancin', and Big Deal, and Quillin performed in Sweet Charity and was also assistant to Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon. The Broadway veterans will share fascinating stories about the great choreographer, drawn from their personal experiences and highlighted by film clips, followed by a Q&A session and reception. Sunday October 5, 7:30 PM at Steps on Broadway, 4th floor.
