Gingold Theatrical Group's PROJECT SHAW Presents A Rarely Seen Comedic Frolic 'BUOYANT BILLIONS' by George Bernard Shaw. This will be its 35th presentation. This rarely performed comedy by George Bernard Shaw will be performed on Monday, FEBRUARY 16th, 2008 at 7 p.m. at the Players Club, 16 Gramercy Park South. The Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street) has announced a two-week extension of its newest hit play WIG OUT! by Tarrell Alvin McCraney -- author of the acclaimed play, THE BROTHERS SIZE and the first recipient of The Vineyard's Paula Vogel Playwriting Award in 2007 -- now set to play through November 2.

New York Drama Critics' Circle names 'August' best play and 'Passing Strange' best musical of 2007-08.

August: Osage County, by Tracy Letts, today won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award (NYDCC) for Best Play of the 2007-2008 season. The Best Musical award was given to Passing Strange (book and lyrics by Stew and music by Stew and Heidi Rodewald).

Nominations for the 53rd Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced this morning at the New York Friars Club by Bebe Neuwirth and Len Cariou, multi-award winning stage, screen and television stars. They were joined for the announcement by William Wolf, Drama Desk President, Barbara Siegel, Chairperson of the Drama Desk Nominating Committee, Robert Blume, Executive Producer of the Drama Desk Awards, and Randie Levine-Miller, Director of Special Events for the Drama Desk.

The 2007 New York Drama Critics Circle Awards were presented at a cocktail reception held on Monday, May 14, at the Algonquin Hotel.

On Sunday, May 20th, Makor will offer a panel discussion featuring an opinionated group of theater writers discussing the upcoming Tony Awards.

The New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards have been announced

Adam Feldman, president of the New York Drama Critics' Circle (NYDCC), announced today that the Circle will meet at the offices of Time Out New York magazine on Monday, May 7, to select the winners of the 71st annual New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards, which will be announced at approximately 7pm, immediately following the meeting.

The History Boys, by Alan Bennett, today won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best Play of the 2005-2006 season. The Best Musical award was given to The Drowsy Chaperone (book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar, music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert and Greg Morrison).

A moderated discussion panel at New York University on May 23rd will have theatre critics putting in odds for winners

Doubt by John Patrick Shanley today won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for best play of the 2004-2005 season. The Pillowman by Martin McDonagh received the award for best foreign play. No award was given for best musical.

'Spamalot' gets excellent 1-to-9 odds to win Best Musical at the Tony Awards on June 5, according to the experts at GoldDerby.com. The Broadway mega-hit loosely based upon the film 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' is also favored to win Best Director (Mike Nichols, 6-to-5-odds) and Best Featured Actress (Sara Ramirez, 3 to 2).

Lynn Redgrave and Robert Goulet announced the nominations from the New York Friars Club and BroadwayWorld was there!
