The Metropolitan Museum of Art's new, completely redesigned David H. Koch Plaza will officially open to the public on today, September 10, after a major two-year reconstruction effort. The massive outdoor space—which runs along Fifth Avenue for four city blocks, the entire length of the Museum's landmark façade—now features completely new fountains, paving, lighting, allées and bosques of trees leading to the Museum's entrances from north and south, and seating areas for visitors.

According to The New York Times, The Joyce Theater Foundation and the National Ballet of Canada plan to announce the New York premiere of Christopher Wheeldon's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. The ballet is set to an original score by Joby Talbot and the costumes and set designs are by Bob Crowley. The production will run from Sept. 9 to 14 at the David H. Koch Theater in Lincoln Center.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, beloved as one of the world's most popular dance companies,will return to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts with four different programs for a two-week 15-performance engagement at the David H. Koch Theater June 11 - 22, 2014. Today, Artistic Director Robert Battle announced repertory for the season, highlighted by a world premiere from Robert Moses - a first-time collaboration with the Company - new productions of Hans van Manen's Polish Pieces and David Parsons' signature work Caught, along with the company premiere of Asadata Dafora's groundbreaking 1932 solo Awassa Astrige/Ostrich. Ailey's acclaimed dancers will perform in diverse repertory including encore performances of 2013-14 season premieres and new productions such as Wayne McGregor's Chroma and an "Ailey/Ellington" program, as well as favorites like Alvin Ailey's American masterpiece Revelations.

Paul Taylor is the last of the living great modern choreographers of the 20th century. He began creating dances in 1954 and has worked with some of the biggest names of the dance world, including Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, and George Balanchine; he has collaborated with some of today's most important visual artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Ellsworth Kelly, and Jasper Johns. Many, if not all, choreographers cite him as an inspiration for their work. Paul Taylor's repertory should be permanently placed on a syllabus for any dance enthusiast. Saturday night's performance at Lincoln Center's David Koch Theatre showed the highs and the lows of Paul Taylor Dance Company.

School of American Ballet's 2014 Winter Ball Raises Over $1.2 Million

The School of American Ballet's 2014 Winter Ball, in celebration of SAB's 80th Anniversary, took place at Lincoln Center's David H. Koch Theater on Monday, March 3, 2014 and raised more than $1.2 million for scholarships and school programs. Sponsored by legendary French jewelry Maison, Van Cleef & Arpels for the seventh consecutive year, the evening began with cocktails at 7pm and dinner at 8pm, followed by a student performance choreographed specially for the occasion, and The Encore dessert and dancing, sponsored by fifth-generation luxury house, J. Mendel. The proceeds from this event enable SAB to distribute $1.9 million annually in student scholarships as well as support the School's renowned faculty and state-of-the-art facilities at Lincoln Center.

For the first time in a major city outside of China (Asia), the Chinese National Award-winning dance drama, "The Red Dress" by the China Ningbo Performance & Arts Group will be performed at the David H. Koch Theater (Lincoln Center) next week March 6 - 9, 2014. The Red Dress is directed by Wang Xlaying, with choreography by Yim Mei and the Composer is Lan Tian. The Stage Art designer is Dai Yannian and the Lighting Designer is Xing Xin. The spectacular production is presented by The China Arts & Entertainment Group (CAEG), a creative enterprise under the administration of the Ministry of Culture for the People's Republic of China. The engagement is the third production in the hope of an ongoing relationship between CAEG and the David H. Koch Theater. These presentations showcase China's historical contribution to the world of theater and art by presenting the finest in Chinese contemporary and classical performing arts to the United States.

Boston Ballet Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen today announced the programming for the Company's first-ever tour to New York's Lincoln Center, June 25-29, 2014. This tour will mark the final performances of the Company's 50th season, which launched at London's Coliseum Theatre in July, 2013. Nominated by The Critics' Circle National Dance Awards for 'Outstanding Company', Boston Ballet is internationally recognized for a commitment to classical, neo-classical and contemporary choreography. American Ballet Theatre Fall Gala Raises $1.65 Million

American Ballet Theatre (ABT) held its annual Opening Night Fall Gala benefit last night at the David H. Koch Theatre, hosting over 700 patrons, sponsors, supporters, friends, alumni and members of the Board of Trustees. ABT's inaugural season at the David H. Koch Theatre marks the Company's first return to the venue since 1976. The gala, which serves as the opening of ABT's fall season at the Koch Theatre, raised $1.65 million dollars and a portion of the proceeds will support ABT's education and community outreach programs.
