Following smash hit productions in Australia, London and Toronto, PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT THE MUSICAL began previews on Broadway on February 28 and opened on Sunday night, March 20, 2011.A long-standing opening night tradition on the Great White Way, the fabled Gypsy Robe is bestowed upon a veteran Broadway chorus member for each opening production. In what has now become a theatrical ritual, originating on Broadway 60 years ago, PRISCILLA cast member Eric Sciotto received the Gypsy Robe and BroadwayWorld was there for the celebration.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert began previews on October 12th in Toronto, and had it's official pink carpet opening on the 26th of October. BWW has been on hand to bring you photos, videos and interviews with the cast and crew as they prepare to launch the North American Premiere of this international smash. Bette Midler, whose solo Broadway debut at the Palace Theatre is the stuff of showbiz legend, will return to that landmark venue as a producer of this season's eagerly anticipated, PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT THE MUSICAL. Priscilla Queen Of The Desert The MusicaL began a pre-Broadway engagement yesterday, Tuesday, October 12, at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto, Canada, prior to beginning performances at Broadway's Palace Theatre in New York City on February 28, and opening March 20, 2011. Bette Midler said 'A new star on Broadway and her name is PRISCILLA!! So much fun, it's practically illegal!! In fact, it IS illegal in four states!!' Here Bette is after seeing the show in London!

This is the second in a series of video previews for the North American Premiere of Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Cast members say hello to BWW and tell us a bit about their arrival in Toronto. The show begins previews on October 12th 2010 with an official opening on October 26th at the Princess of Wales Theatre.

The New York Times reports today that LA CAGE's most temperamental Cagelle, Nick Adams, will be joining the cast of PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT. Assuming the familiar role of yet another drag queen, Adams will play the role of Felicia in the North American company of PRISCILLA, which will open at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto on October 12 before heading to Broadway next spring.

Jitters is a comedic play that examines the state of Canadian culture and the lives of its frontline practitioners. Based on playwright David French's own opening night experiences and mishaps, it has been called one of the funnies backstage comedies ever written. BWW spoke with Noah Reid and C. David Johnson about the current state of the Arts in Canada, young people and the theatre and (of course) their own opening night 'Jitters'
