Ruth Page Center For The Arts Announces  2019 Ruth Page Award Recipients

Venetia Stifler, executive and artistic director of the Ruth Page Center for the Arts and the 2019 Ruth Page Award Committee are pleased to announce their selections for this year's Ruth Page Awards. The recipients include Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and its Artistic Director Robert Battle and Chicago Dance History Project and its Executive and Artistic Director Jenai Cutcher.  The 2019 Awards will be presented immediately before Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's performance celebrating 60 years of Ailey Ascending and the 50th anniversary of the Company's first performance at the Auditorium Theatre, 50 E. Ida B. Wells Dr., Friday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the 2019 Ruth Page Awards are $60 and include a private reception at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Ailey performance at 7:30 p.m.  This performance is part of Ravinia's annual Ruth Page Festival of Dance.  Tickets and event information is available at EventBrite.com. CCBC Presents Susan Glaspell's THE VERGE

Susan Glaspell's The Verge, an expressionistic masterpiece of the 1920s, will be performed Oct. 18 -22 in the F. Scott Black Theatre in the Robert and Eleanor Romadka College Center at Community College of Baltimore County Essex, 7201 Rossville Blvd. Part of Performing Arts at CCBC's season of American Masters, the play highlights the work of Susan Glaspell, an American playwright, who won the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1931 for her play Alison's House, but is best known for her one-act Trifles.

Lifetime sleighs the 2018 holiday season this year with the network's It's a Wonderful Lifetime lineup, featuring 14 all-new original movies and nine acquired films. SOKOLOW THEATRE/DANCE ENSEMBLE, in its first season under the artistic direction of Samantha Geracht, will appear in rarely seen works by legendary American modern dance pioneer Anna Sokolow, including her Moods, which has not been performed since the late 1970's, along with Dreams and Preludes.   The Company will be joined by guests Jennifer Conley, former soloist with the Martha Graham Dance Company, performing Sokolow's solo Poem, and Clarence Brooks, former Company member, in ?Sweet in the Morning, ?by choreographer Leni Wylliams.   Four performances, March 8-11 at the Mark O'Donnell Theater at the Actors Fund Arts Center, 160 Schermerhorn Street, Brooklyn.

Thanks to a generous donation, select Miami Music Project students will receive a full scholarship to attend the 2018 Interlochen Arts Camp. Made possible by the financial generosity of Daniel R. Lewis and M:X (Miami Experimental), the scholarship will coverall tuition, travel, boarding and uniform expenses. More importantly, it will offer a unique opportunity for this underserved student music population to hone their artistic skills.
