Walkabout Theater Presents TALL GIRL AND THE LIGHTNING PARADE this August

Walkabout Theater Company is pleased to celebrate summer with TALL GIRL AND THE LIGHTNING PARADE, an interactive, outdoor parade and performance spectacle featuring over 30 multi-disciplinary artists - performed in both Spanish and English and perfect for the entire family. Five free performances will be presented August 16, August 23-24 and August 26-27, 2016 at unique outdoor venues across the City, primarily through the Chicago Park District's "Night Out in the Parks" series.

Walkabout Theater Company, in association with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, is pleased to present THE CURE, a new ensemble-devised work exploring our relationship with disease, resilience and our pursuit of immortality. Commissioned text by Emma Stanton is fused with interwoven narratives of movement, music, group choreography and funerary rites that investigate the fatigue of hope in the face of profound grief. Directed by Co-Artistic Director Kendra Miller with movement by Co-Artistic Director Thom Pasculli, THE CURE will play June 1 - 18, 2016 at The Sidney R. Yates Gallery at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St. in Chicago. All performances are free to the public. Advance reservations can be made at walkabouttheater.org/the-cure. Steppenwolf for Young Adults' (SYA) first production of its 2014/15 season is George Orwell's Animal Farm, a world premiere adaptation by Althos Low. Steppenwolf for Young Adults (SYA) has announced casting for the first production of its 2014/15 season, George Orwell's Animal Farm, a world premiere adaptation by Althos Low. Directed by SYA Artistic and Educational Director Hallie Gordon, the cast of professional actors features Will Allan, Jasmine Bracey, Lucy Carapetyan, Amelia Hefferon, Matt Kahler, Mildred Marie Langford, Blake Montgomery, Dana Murphy, Lance Newton and Sean Parris. Animal Farm runs October 15 - November 9, 2014; the press performance is on Saturday, October 18 at 3pm. Performances Tuesday through Friday at 10am are reserved for school groups only; public performances are scheduled Friday at 7:30pm (except October 17), Saturday at 3 and 7:30pm and Sunday at 3pm. Performances of Steppenwolf Theatre Company's fifth annual Garage Rep are scheduled to begin February 14, 2014, featuring The New Colony's world-premiere production of reWILDing Genius, Prologue Theatre Company's Chicago-premiere production of Saturday Night/Sunday Morning and Walkabout Theater Company's world-premiere production of The Wild. These innovative storefront companies perform in rotating repertory for ten weeks through April 20, 2013 (press performances are March 8 and 9, 2014). Performances are scheduled Wednesday through Sunday in the Garage Theater (1624 N Halsted St); a full performance schedule, including the line-up for Late Night @ Garage Rep, follows.
