The Personal History of David Copperfield leads the list of nominations for the 2019 British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs), announced this morning by British actors Naomi Ackie and Joe Cole at the Regent Street Cinema. Armando Iannucci's fresh take on Dickens' novel about the ups and downs in the life of its eponymous character is recognised for Best British Independent Film and Best Screenplay sponsored by BBC Films, amongst nine other awards. Dev Patel is nominated for Best Actor, with co-stars Tilda Swinton and Hugh Laurie competing in the respective Supporting categories. The film also features heavily in the technical categories with nominations for Best Casting sponsored by Casting Society of America & Spotlight, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Editing sponsored by Intermission Film, Best Make Up & Hair Design sponsored by MAC Cosmetics and Best Production Design sponsored by Studio Juice.

One Man, Two Guvnors is headed for the big screen!

Audiences have two weeks left to catch Ken Urban's arresting new drama A Guide for the Homesick, with its 'mesmerizing performances' (Aleks Sierz, Theatre Times) by the talented Douglas Booth and Clifford Samuel. This gripping new drama completes its hit run on 24 November 2018. The production is directed by Jonathan O'Boyle and produced by Stage Traffic Productions.

Ahead of the European debut at Trafalgar Studios from 16 October - 24 November, A Guide for the Homesick, releases rehearsal images and trailer. Cleopatra Films, the movie division of famed indie record label Cleopatra Records, has acquired all domestic rights to the feel-good true story A STREET CAT NAMED BOB, directed by Roger Spottiswoode (TOMORROW NEVER DIES, TURNER AND HOOCH) and starring Olivier Award-winning actor Luke Treadaway (UNBROKEN), Ruta Gedmintas ("The Strain") and Golden Globe-winner Joanne Froggatt ("Downtown Abbey"). The film, written by Tim John and Maria Nation, is based on the international bestseller by James Bowen and Garry Jenkins. Produced by Adam Rolston for Shooting Script Films, the uplifting story will be released domestically in theaters on November 18th, 2016.

Sony Pictures Classics has just announced a December 11, 2015 release date for THE LADY IN THE VAN, Alan Bennett's adaptation of his commercial and critical West End hit, based on his own bestselling memoir. Dame Maggie Smith, stage vet and star of DOWNTON ABBEY, will reprise one of her most-loved stage roles for the big screen, under the direction of Nicholas Hytner.

FRAME: The London Dance Film Festival is a major new event to be produced by BalletBoyz and the International Music + Media Centre (IMZ Vienna) which will take place in the UK next June.  In partnership with the international dancescreen competition, FRAME will feature cutting-edge new films alongside established favourites in a programme of events designed to appeal to a broad audience.
