Artistic Mark Clements announced Milwaukee Repertory Theater's 2012/13 Season today. The ambitious choice of plays includes a Tony Award-winning musical, two classics from American literature, two landmark plays written nearly 50 years apart, a musical parody of Broadway, two scintillating musical revues that celebrate the blues and the legendary music of Johnny Cash, an interactive stage show by mentalist Marc Salem and a soul-stirring hit from London and Broadway.

As a part of a century-old tradition, a photo shoot was held in Times Square today for a photoshoot featuring 'Black Stars of the Great White Way,' but not everyone was thrilled about this year's gathering. Dramatists Guild executive director Ralph Sevush realead the following statement on the event:

When HAIR, The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical, opened on Broadway at the Biltmore theatre on April 29, 1968 the musical, with book and lyrics by Gerome Ragni and James Rado, music by Galt MacDermot and directed by Tom O'Horgan, broke new ground in musical theatre and the genre of the 'rock musical' was born.
