In 1920s Connecticut, sly Irish farmer Phil Hogan plots with his homely daughter, Josie, to have her seduce their boozy friend and landlord, James Tyrone, who inherited the farm but struggles as a stage actor due to his debauched lifestyle.

Romeo and Juliet play out their tragic love story at Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre this summer. Shakespeare '70, Mercer County's classic repertory company, kicks off the Kelsey Summer Series with 'Romeo and Juliet' Fridays and Saturdays June 26, 27, July 3 and 4 at 2 p.m., and Sundays, June 28 and July 5 at 2 p.m. Kelsey Theatre is located on the college's West Windsor campus at 1200 Old Trenton Road. This year marks Shakespeare '70's fortieth consecutive year of performing Shakespeare.

Riding the Comet-New Jersey-based playwright Mark L. Violi's gripping World War II drama about the French resistance helping American G.I.s escape the Nazis is the third in the Actors' NET of Bucks County staged readings series to appear on the Heritage Center stage in Morrisville. Directed by Kyla Marie Mostello of Levittown, the script in hand production features (alphabetically) Patrick Albanesius, Camryn Barnes, Chuck Donnelly, Mike Gearty, John Helmke, Steve Pié and Katie Skelly. Violi, from Hamilton, NJ, will be at the performance. A talk back session with cast and playwright follows the performance.
