On February 18 and 19, La MaMa will host an open house, 'New Voices Heard,' featuring a sampling of eight plays that were developed during the summer of 2008 in the La MaMa Umbria International Playwrights Retreat. This free event will take place at La MaMa La Galleria, 6 East First Street, Manhattan (between Second Avenue and Bowery), Manhattan. Admission is free. Excerpts of eight plays will be presented. Seven will be staged readings and one will be fully acted.

Francisco Solorzano, Producing Artistic Director and Victoria Malvagno, Managing Director present Barefoot Theatre's bareNaked Reading Series. The series, who's tagline reads 'no props, no sets, just words' which take places on Thursday, December 18, Friday, December 19, and Saturday, December 20, 2008 boasts live music and free drinks. Tickets cost $10. No reservation is required.

Music director Isidro Infante (who performed with the real Cruz) leads a seven-piece band that accompanies Gathers and the cast in faithful live renditions of the Salsa Queen's repertoire, including 'La Bomba,' Celia's groundbreaking collaboration with Tito Puente which is credited with sparking the popularity of salsa music in the '70s, as well as 'Guantanamera,' 'Químbara,' 'Toro Mata,' 'La Vida es un Carnaval' and dozens more that became universal sensations.

Celia: The Life and Music of Celia Cruz, the Off Broadway musical celebrating the legendary 'Queen of Salsa' currently playing at New World Stages celebrated its 200th performance last night on Tuesday, February 19.

Celia: The Life and Music of Celia Cruz, the new musical that recently opened at New World Stages, has put a new block of tickets on sale today. Celia has also added another English-language performance on Tuesday evenings at 8PM.
