BWW Review: THE LIGHTNING THIEF: THE PERCY JACKSON MUSICAL at Shanley High School
by Brian Michaels
- Apr 2, 2022
When the Shanley Players first announced that they were to present The Lightning Thief, I was very intrigued. This musical is adapted from the book The Lightning Thief written by Rick Riordan. I have personally never read the books, but my kids were all huge fans. I did, however, see the movies with my kids when they came out. Knowing this was a new musical for me, I purposely did not listen to any of the songs before hand. As far as I can tell, this is the local premier of this show.

BWW Review: BRIGHT STAR at Sheyenne High School
by Brian Michaels
- Feb 20, 2022
This might be the first time this show has been done locally, but it's definitely the first time I have seen it. This beautiful show was created by Steve Martin & Edie Brickell. The story is based on a true event, not a true story.
BWW Review: GREASE at Fargo Davies High School
by Brian Michaels
- Dec 12, 2021
Fargo Davies High School Theatre Presents Grease! Rebecca Saari once again hits one out of the park. I can honestly say this is the best stage version I have ever seen. There are some real stars on that stage. The singing, the choreography, the Pit Orchestra, the set and everything in between are all top notch.

BWW Review: BONNIE AND CLYDE THE MUSICAL at Moorhead High School
by Brian Michaels
- Nov 16, 2021
Rebecca Meyer-Larson and her talented students from Moorhead High bring the story of the infamous outlaws Bonnie and Clyde to the stage. This is the first time this musical has been performed in the area. A friendly warning that it may not be suitable for young children, as the show includes violence, mature language and simulated gun shots.

BWW Review: SWEENEY TODD at West Fargo High School
by Brian Michaels
- Nov 6, 2021
The musical of Sweeney Todd first hit Broadway in 1979. This haunting musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim is a modern classic. The horrid story of a vengeful barber who assists her partner in getting some special ingredients for her famous meat pies.
BWW Review: ALL SHOOK UP at FMCT
by Brian Michaels
- Jul 25, 2021
For anyone looking for a purely fun show with great music this is it. This show will have you tapping your feet, clapping your hands and singing along. All Shook Up is a 2004 jukebox musical set to the music of Elvis Presley. The story in this production is similar to Footloose. We have a small town with rules against loud music, public 'neckin' etc.. We have an outsider who comes to town and try to change everything, and of course we have the hilarious multi-person love triangle, although it's definitely more than a triangle.

BWW Review: THE ADDAMS FAMILY at Davies High School
by Brian Michaels
- May 23, 2021
They're creepy and they're kooky, mysterious and spooky. OK, that isn't actually part of the stage musical but I did catch myself singing it when the the finger snapping started.

The music and the story are so entertaining. It is great to see young kids enjoying this music, and by the looks on their faces they were all having a blast.
