BWW Review: THE GOD GAME Provides Unrealistic Look at Religion and Politics at Mad Cow
by Matt Tamanini - Oct 27, 2016

Opening just three weeks before the presidential election, a play analyzing the confluence of religion and politics on a personal level should be a perfect theatrical opportunity. However, in light of this particular presidential contest, the handling of the issue feels simplistic and dated in THE GOD GAME, running at Orlando's Mad Cow Theatre through November 20th. This intimate, regional premiere from playwright Suzanne Bradbeer feels more like a thought exercise devoid of real world calculations than an honest introspection of a third rail in American politics.

BWW Review: MY NAME IS ASHER LEV Elegantly Examines Crossroads of Art, Religion
by Matt Tamanini - Nov 10, 2015

For millennia, both art and religion have been the focus of some of the theater's best work's, however, rarely has one play combined and commented on both as elegantly as Mad Cow Theatre's stirring production of Aaron Posner's MY NAME IS ASHER LEV, running through December 6th. This riveting work, directed by Mark Edward Smith, follows the artistic and religious journey of Hasidic Jew Asher Lev (played by Michael Frishman) from the confusion of a conflicted child prodigy to the personal torment of an artistic genius.

BWW Review: Mad Cow's PHILADELPHIA STORY is a Joyful Classic Comedy
by Matt Tamanini - Apr 7, 2015

I have to admit, I have a significant gap in my pop culture knowledge. I have never seen the movie version of Philip Barry's play THE PHILADELPHIA STORY, which starred Katherine Hepburn, Cary Grant, and Jimmy Stewart, and garnered six Academy Award nominations in 1940. While I have seen a stage production Cole Porter's musical adaptation, HIGH SOCIETY (which was also a 1956 film), it wasn't until I saw Mad Cow Theatre's production (running through April 19th) that I truly appreciated the charming wit and sophistication of this classic high comedy. Under the direction of Aradhana Tiwari, Mad Cow's cast is an exceptionally talented group that will bring a smile to your heart, and just might bring a sentimental tear to your eye. THE PHILADELPHIA STORY is the most enjoyable Mad Cow mainstage production that I have seen.

BWW Reviews: Playing Head Games with THE LETTERS at Mad Cow Theatre
by Justin J Sacramone - Aug 27, 2014

Few things in the world give me the same sensation like experiencing a new play for the first time. We all love the classics and how they are constantly being reinvented, but nothing beats a first viewing of the unfamiliar. Whether good or bad, new plays are excitingly fresh and make the most memorable theatre going experiences.
