In the last twelve months, more than 300,000 people attended a live theatre production in or around Berkshire County. With 75 stage productions employing hundreds of professionals, making theatre is an important cog in the area's cultural economy. In fact, many consider the region a hot spot for Broadway bound shows, and a popular summer destination for theatre-goers from around the nation.

Broadway Bounty Hunter, a new musical which opened at Barrington Stage Company on August 19th, celebrates the history of B-list movies and modern musical theatre by blending them together in hilarious fashion. At the center of this high-antic musical is Joe Iconis' psychedelic score- a surreal composure in lush form thanks to Charlie Rosen's orchestrations. Broadway Bounty Hunter proves musical theatre reaches its apex when risk is taken and boundaries are broken.

Just ahead of previews, Broadway Bounty Hunter writer, Joe Iconis gives viewers a sneak peek into his 'future Tony Award-winning' musical.  Broadway Bounty Hunter features music and lyrics by Joe Iconis (Be More Chill, The Black Suits, Bloodsong of Love), book by Joe Iconis, Lance Rubin (author of Denton Little's Deathdate) and Jason SweetTooth Williams (Off Broadway: Once Upon A Mattress), and choreography by Jeffrey Page (Broadway's Violet). Joel Waggoner (BSC's Presto Change-O, Southern Comfort) serves as music director.

Ghostlight Records will record the Original Cast Album of Be More Chill, the new musical which recently had its world premiere production at Two River Theater, Red Bank, NJ. Be More Chill has music and lyrics by Joe Iconis, book by Joe Tracz and is based on the novel by Ned Vizzini. The show was directed by Stephen Brackett with Chase Brock serving as choreographer. Michael Ricigliano Jr.'s A QUEEN FOR A DAY, directed by John Gould Rubin began performances on April 13th and opened on May 3rd to rave reviews at the Theatre at St. Clement's will complete its run on July 5th to focus on the show's future.
